just curious, which was your first Madonna album that you bought?
guess lots of different answers as we all have different ages... also wonder if someone was a fan from day 1 since the self-titled debut?

myself I jumped in quite early and as a kid I bought Like a Virgin, but it was the version that already has Into the Groove, so I guess I was kinda late and became a fan after the movie I think.

The first I bought was 'Ray of Light' on vinyl but years after it was actually released! That had to be the first in my collection heart.gif

My mum was on board from quite early on though and her CDs would often be road-trip soundtracks (I particularly remember a lot of 'Music')

Ray of Light in about mid-1998, I suppose I sorta grew up with that album in a way.

Music was the first era I got to follow properly (as I only started following the charts in 2000), and I became a proper fan from that point by buying all the old albums etc.

I was given the Like A Virgin album as a Christmas present, but it was the reissue with Into The Groove on it. My first interest in Madonna was Material Girl.

I bought True Blue as well, but I went "full-on Madonna fan" from Like A Prayer onwards.

I have to be honest, she has lost me a bit. I didn't buy MDNA and then, despite enjoying Rebel Heart, I just found Madame X a little annoying somehow.

MDNA when I was 12, as part of a 2 for £10 HMV deal. Pretty sure the other album was Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger lol

I’m Breathless was my first I think, then Like a Prayer, True Blue and The Immaculate Collection soon after.

'Celebration' a few years ago.

First studio album was 'Frozen' and 'Confessions On A Dancefloor' after my listen-throughs last year. Got them for £1 each in the poundshop *.*

Confessions for me, back in 2006.

I did have the Frozen and Music cd singles when I was younger, but never fully invested in a whole album by her before that.

Confessions On A Dance Floor I think when I got Madonna CDs a while ago but can't fully remember!

In terms of Vinyl, I bought True Blue, Like A Virgin and the debut at the same time and then gradually built the rest of the collection.

First one I invested in was a cassette of Ray Of Light which my sister bought me March 1999.

It was either 'Ray of Light' or 'Confessions' some time in 2008 or 2009 (I bought 'Celebration' soon after it was released and that was my first exposure to a lot of Madonna's singles, but I had the aforementioned albums first). Two very different albums that probably best sum up the two sides to Madonna's artistry, if you had to define it into just two. 'Confessions' easily followed my commercial tastes at the time; 'Ray of Light' not much at all but I remember being absolutely mesmerized by it and it definitely helped me start expanding my musical horizons.

Really interesting to see everyone's responses to this thread!

Being ancient, mine was "Like A Prayer" on cassette at Christmas 89, then bought both "I'm breathless" and "The Immaculate Collection" on Vinyl in the week of release. My first CD album was actually "True Blue" but sometime in 1990.

The first Madonna album I ever heard was Something to Remember, in 1998, though my mum had actually bought it for herself and I just listened to it out of curiosity. That was the year I first discovered Madonna, thanks to Frozen. Even though I bought a couple of Ray of Light era singles - Frozen and Ray of Light - for some reason I didn't buy or request the album at that time! I kind of wish I had, because I wonder whether 10 year old me would have been able to appreciate it or not!

I remember that Music was the first album that I asked for - I got it for Christmas 2000, though that means I didn't actually buy it. It has the honour of being the first Madonna studio album I ever heard!

I kind of checked out during the American Life era, and although Confessions got me back into her again, I didn't purchase the album. I just downloaded it! sad.gif

Which leads me to answering the question - the first Madonna album I bought was Hard Candy! I actually pre-ordered the CD.

For some reason it took me a very long time to feel like discovering more of Madonna's back catalogue and actually listen to her albums. Maybe around 8 years ago I bought a lot of her studio albums on CD at a UK store called That's Entertainment, that sold lots of refurbished second hand CDs (I miss that store cheeseblock.png ), they were just 99p. But it still took me a few more years to get around to hearing all of them. BuzzJack's Madonna rate got me to do it heart.gif And that rate was then responsible for me wanting to buy the albums all over again, on vinyl. *.*

None yet, but if I buy it, it will be her debut. I love how full of life and hope she is on this album.
