Kylie - Best: Confide In Me.
Probably her most daring and most confident record. Worst: Into The Blue. It's an ok song... but it felt a bit basic Kylie at that point. Dannii - Best: Put the Needle On It. Or "Put the Dick On It" as certain Top Fans claimed it should be called. Worst: Show You The Way To Go. Pretty basic cover. Ok but nothing more. |

Confide in me was very daring to be fair and it worked to the point of getting people to see kylie differently which is what she wanted, I'd also say both her and the label really wanted the number 1 with but sadly missed out.
I do like into the blue but it lacked the stand out moment that she needed for the lead single, it felt more like a 3rd or 4th single but it was the right choice of lead single with what was on offer from kiss me once. 2 hearts again a good song but its downside was it didnt represent the album and more annoyingly for me it wasnt the best song from the album and others would have made a better lead. For me 2 hearts and some kind of bliss were both songs the labels thought had to be leads or not singles at all but in some kind of bliss I understand the decision more and I also happen to really like it. With Dannii her second album was all wrong and it done alot of damage to her music career, dannii def needed more this is it sounding tracks at the time to keep getting hits and sustain the momentum from love and kisses album. The production in SYTWTG is good, the song however is way to long !!!
Dannii's best lead this week i chose AIWD, PTNOI is also great. I choose SUP for worse song, just because of the lazy chorus !!! Kylie - ATL wins, ITB loses. |

Both kylie and dannii have some far stronger follow up singles than the leads but dannii for me never really picked the right lead single for any of her albums.

I Begin To Wonder should have become Neon Nights lead single, due to its popularity and following on from Who Do You Love Now may have helped Put The Needle In It to achieve Top 5 status.
2 Hearts as a lead ahead of The One and Like a Drug is one of the most stupid decisions in Kylie's lead decisions. |

X was one of Kylies most frustrating eras as a fan purely because i feel the album could have been so much bigger if they singles had been chosen differently, also with X they left off some tracks that were so much stronger than songs that made the album, i think with more clever decision making X would have easily went double platinum in its initial time scale and would in time picked up extra sales that would now see the album closer to 700k.
Body Language, i think they pretty much made the right call with the singles but they went so wrong with the sound, as it in general wasn't what the general public or the fans wanted from Kylie, songs like the one, like a drug and i believe in you type songs would have been the ideal sounding album to have followed Fever and again if it went that way Kylie would have had a much higher seller than body language achieved, slow and red blooded woman or chocolate would have been good enough to promote ultimate Kylie but an album of the sound it was too much. Dannii along with a really bad choice of sound for the second album has suffered greatly from been with the wrong label, its a huge shame about the lack of follow up to neon nights, i think in general musically she was at her most popular and then her joining the x factor made her more popular all round but she never managed to capitalize on it at all, if Dannii had the right label she could have used the show to her advantage just like Cheryl did and things may have been different for Dannii. If Danii had a new album and strong lead performed on the show she could have easily managed to have equaled the success of neon nights as back then an x factor performance had a big impact. |

AIWD was clearly the best song from girl to go with. It sold 72,000 copies in the first week , for one week in 1997 it would have made number 1 !!!

With all i wanna do is a shame she didn't manage to have a big follow up, Girl as an album deserved so so much more than it got chart and sales wise although it took me years to dicover or appreciate it but i didnt get there in the end.

I mean, you're probably right but I admire her so much more for taking a risk and not being predictable. It'd have been easy for her to just do something along the lines of Fever as a follow-up. |

I do give her credit for that but i think she could have taken the risk but a safer one, songs like like a drug, the one and i believe in you to me feel like natural follow ups to fever but yet not making the mistake of fever part 2. To kylies credit she always knows how to change things up with each album.

Body Language was brave but possibly too brave at that time, the success of Fever was off the scale worldwide and a safer follow up would have stood Kylie's career better.
That said, Slow was a Number 1 and sadly her last time getting there. Ultimate Kylie was served at the right time and reversed the sales decline and I Believe in You was a wonderful single to promote the collection and it would have been lovely if it had managed Number 1 status. |

It was such a shame i believe in you was up against band aid as otherwise it would have been an 8th number 1 for Kylie but as we said before many of kylies greats ended up with a number 2.

Totally agree with u on the "X" era, if a better lead single got chosen, then things could have gotten off to a better start for the album at least anyway. My singles run would have been "The One">"Wow">"In My Arms">"Like A Drug" & "Cherry Bomb" |
