Is Call the Shots a ballad? Some people think so, but I really don’t. Sure it has emotional lyrics but I think it’s mid tempo for the most part, and then *that* chorus strays way too far from what I’d consider to be a typical ballad. That chorus goes way too hard. All I can say is that crowds were not swaying their arms to Call the Shots at concerts lol.
That’s just my view, what do you think? |

I'd class this one as a ballad in the same way that The One That Got Away is a ballad tbh.

And much like I said in that thread too, I've always considered this a mid-tempo! I've never been especially good at explaining my thinking on music, but to me songs like this and ITWYMMF have too much ''energy'' to be ballads, aside from any BPM considerations. |

It’s to upbeat for a ballad, but not upbeat enough to be upbeat. So mid tempo.

See The Day, Whole Lotta History and I'll Stand By You are ballads, Call The Shots is a lot "faster" than those kind of songs. |
