First, our runner-up! Introduced to the Doctor at the Library, the mysterious River Song already knew who he was. Not just that, but she knew the deepest, most intimate secrets of his life, including his name. Even more confusingly, River sacrifices herself to save the Doctor, protecting their future adventures before the Doctor's even gotten to know her. Nevertheless, the Doctor meets River numerous times down the line, each time learning a little more about her. She was imprisoned for killing a good man - himself, as we later learn - and of course, the biggest reveal was that she was Melody Pond, the daughter of companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams. The Doctor and River Song marry each other in a timeline where time has been messed up (by the Doctor's death not happening). The last time we saw River was on Darillium by the singing towers, where she spent her last night with the Doctor before going to the Library. The night, of course, lasted 24 years. Our landslide winner of course is super temp Donna Noble, first introduced to us as a bride who appears in the TARDIS out of nowhere. Thanks to the Empress of the Racnoss, Huon particles and her fiancée Lance, Donna was sucked into the TARDIS, her life about to be changed forever. Learning that Lance never really loved her, and ultimately seeing him die, Donna declined the Doctor's offer of travelling in the TARDIS, returning home with big dreams. They bump into each other at Adipose Industries investigating the same leads by coincidence, and Donna reveals she regrets not taking the Doctor up on his offer. They travel together for the duration of series 4, with Donna not being afraid to question the Doctor, notably in Pompeii when she insists they save one family. Donna survives an alternate timeline, working with Rose to restore normality, but later, the Daleks send Donna to her death. The Doctor's spare hand saves her, creating a metacrisis between them, but Donna's human mind can't take the Time Lord knowledge and the Doctor does the one thing he can to save her life - he makes her forget Thanks SO much to everyone who's taken part in this game, it's been the most fun! Except the silent Bill voters, that is. No thanks to you x 01. Donna Noble (21 votes to win | 75.00%) 02. River Song (7 votes to win | 25.00%) 03. Rose Tyler (15 votes | 44.12%) 04.
