Leading US trainer Wesley Ward has reported his 12 Royal Ascot trophies have been stolen from his home in Versailles, Kentucky.

Ward, who won last year's Commonwealth Cup with Campanelle, said the cost of the trophies paled in comparison to the sentimental value.

The trophies included the one presented to him by the Queen after he won the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes with Undrafted in 2015.

Jonjo O'Neill, a Grand National winner with Don't Push It in 2010, was in philosophical mood on Tuesday when it emerged Time To Get Up – for many a dark horse for this year's Randox-sponsored marathon – was not qualified to run.

Owned, like Don't Push It, by JP McManus, Time To Get Up was a steadily progressive staying chaser last season when he won the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter and he appeared over the National fences when well beaten in the Grand Sefton at Aintree in November.

Horses, however, must have run in at least six chases by Sunday and that outing was the nine-year-old's fifth over fences.

Sir Mark Todd has been given an interim suspension by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) after a video on social media appeared to show him hit a horse with a branch.

The former Olympic equestrian champion turned racehorse trainer will be unable to race horses while investigations continue.

The 65-year-old New Zealander, who trains in Wiltshire, has apologised for his actions.

On Sunday the BHA condemned the video.

It appears to show Todd strike the horse multiple times while attempting to coax it towards the water jump in a cross-country schooling session.

Fakir D'Oudairies, who won for the third time at the highest level, was cut to 7-1 (from 12s) for the Ryanair, which is headed by Allaho, and could also go for the Melling Chase, which he won last season.

Teahupoo emerged as a contender after operating below the radar for the first half of the season.

An impressive victory in the Grade 3 Red Mills Trial Hurdle saw the French-bred gelding cut to a general 8-1 with most firms for the Unibet Champion Hurdle as he made it three wins from three for the season.

Under Robbie Power, riding his first winner since returning a couple of weeks ago from injury, he seemed anything but suited by the steady gallop and hit the front sooner than was ideal before the second-

Waiting Patiently has been retired after being pulled up when attempting to repeat his emotional success in the Betfair Ascot Chase.

He scored a memorable win in the Grade 1 contest under Brian Hughes in 2018, the day after the funeral of his former trainer Malcolm Jefferson.

The fragile 11-year-old has not won since and was moved from Jefferson's daughter Ruth in Malton to Christian Williams's yard on the Welsh coast, in the hope that the restorative powers of the sea water could produce a revival.

Navan's high-quality Sunday card has been cancelled after failing to come through its 8am inspection.

The Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle and Ten Up Novice Chase had been set to feature on the eight-race card but after 11mm of overnight rain the track was found to be waterlogged in places and unfit for racing on Sunday morning.

Clerk of the course Paddy Graffin explained: "I’ve just completed my inspection this morning and we’ve had 11mm of rain overnight and further rain forecast right up to race time.

Carlisle could join the list of cancellations caused by Storm Eunice should it fail to pass an inspection on Monday morning.

The seven-race card is the day's last surviving afternoon meeting in Britain after Lingfield's jumps fixture was cancelled due to a waterlogged track and Chelmsford called off because of storm damage.

Joseph O'Brien has raised the prospect of Fakir D'Oudairies locking horns with Allaho once more in next month's Ryanair Chase following the seven-year-old's success on Saturday in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase.

The trainer outlined the Ryanair at the Cheltenham Festival, in which Fakir D'Oudairires was no match for Allaho last year, followed by the Melling Chase at Aintree as the likely path for the JP McManus-owned chaser.

Officials at Kelso have welcomed the news that Buveur D'Air, the Champion Hurdle hero in 2017 and 2018, is an intended runner in next week's bet365 Morebattle Hurdle.

The £100,000 event, which is Scotland's richest hurdle race, offers a bonus of that value for connections of the winner should they follow up at the Cheltenham Festival – something The Shunter achieved last year when landing the Paddy Power Plate.

However, Buveur D'Air will not chase the bonus and instead will be targeted at the Betway Aintree Hurdle at the Grand National meeting in April.

Medina Spirit's victory at the Kentucky Derby in 2021 has been nullified.

The horse failed a drug test after winning the United States' most famous race at Churchill Downs and died of a heart attack in training in December.

Trainer Bob Baffert will miss this year's race after being suspended for 90 days, from 8 March until 5 June, and fined $7,500 (£5,530).

Oisin Murphy will not be able to ride again until February next year after accepting he was guilty of five charges brought against him by the BHA.

An independent judicial panel ruled the three-time champion jockey will not be able to reapply for his riding licence for 14 months, backdated to December 8, with 11 months handed out for Covid breaches and conduct prejudicial to the sport's reputation plus a further 100 days for two positive alcohol tests.
