Maybe it's to increase how many of her versions appear in search results, to further overshadow the originals? Perhaps it's a way of notifying listeners of new releases, even though they're not actually new, but it encourages some people to stream again!
I've noticed some other artists have random streaming releases like this too, for instance Katy Perry had four themed EPs released in 2020 which had a selection of new and old songs included. |

Yeah I think these are all logical suggestions. I think it started in the folklore era, most likely, as you say, to increase streaming.

This chapter has all the worst songs from the album - apart from All Too Well of course. I also like The Last Time but I know it’s not that popular on here.
