new album from Soccer Mommy called 'Sometimes, Forever'
lead single Shotgun is all kinds of instant and all kinds of amazing, she really is one of the best songwriters around the album is out in a million different vinyl formats she's also touring extensively this summer |

I like it, but it didn’t make much of an impression on me on first listen. I’ll give it another go later though.

Love
The entire album produced by Oneohtrix Point Never? It's going to be fantastic. |

Those distorted guitar riffs and surf guitar lines. Her voice as melancholy and nostalgic as ever Consider me hyped for this new era *.*

Unholy Affliction out now
OH MY *.* Almost a complete 180 from Shotgun. Dark, brooding and some electro thrown in for good measure. |

Miss Mommy gave us another great album! It's really enjoyable as a piece of work. The final two tracks

So good, immediately up there as one of my favourites of the year.

I'm really enjoying the album too she's been a bit of a revelation for me this year as I only knew 'Circle The Drain' before this era.
I love her dreamy, fuzzy guitar sound but also appreciated the variety of the more twisted songs sonically like 'Unholy Affliction' and 'Darkness Forever' |

I think #95 is a bit more than just outside.

oops I mixed Soccer Mommy and Muna both should have been top 40 minimum, among the best albums of the year

Neither of her previous albums made the top 100 so #95 is progress at least! (also true for MUNA)
Heard the first 3 singles from this so far and I've enjoyed each one more than the last. 'Unholy Affliction' definitely feels quite leftfield compared to the rest of what I've heard from her (Oneohtrix Point Never on production may go some way to explain that, although then again he produced the entire album and the other couple of singles definitely sound more like what I expected) |

Awkward moment of disagreement with Kath as I loved pretty much all of this album except the last two tracks oops xx (I'd say it might have just been my attention span tailing off but tbf I heard 'Feel It All The Time' before I listened to the album and I thought it sounded just ok then as well)
'Darkness Forever' and 'Don't Ask Me' are both stormers. Heavily vibing to 'Following Eyes' too (that one seems to be a bit underrated / overlooked!) Tough to pick my favourite album track between those 3, think I am leaning slightly towards 'Don't Ask Me' currently. Also it took me a while but 'Shotgun' has finally clicked with me a bit more hearing it on the album after being a bit middling on it at first, although I still think it's the weakest of the singles (I initially liked each one more than the last although in retrospect I think I underrated 'Unholy Affliction', that was sounding even better on the album too, so would probably now say 'newdemo' > 'Unholy Affliction' > 'Bones' > 'Shotgun') |
