Public Service Broadcasting have been commissioned by the BBC to compose a work to mark their centenary year. It will be performed at a Prom concert at the Albert Hall on 30 August, Naturally, I will be there. It will be broadcast live on the night on Radio 3 and will then be shown on BBC4 on 2 September. I'm sure it will be brilliant.
I don't yet know whether the work will be released. |

The latest new on a release (or otherwise) is that it depends on whether it is deemed to be any good. If they think it will be profitable, it will be released.

Obviously, the idea that anything by Public Service Broadcasting will be anything other than fantastic is unthinkable.

Last night was quite emotional. I've been following the band since The War Room EP ten years ago, back in the days when our own Brett-Butler was championing them on his Queens Radio show. When I first saw them live, the only people on stage were J Wilgoose Esq and Wrigglesworth. The rest of the music was on a laptop. With that modest beginning, it was quite incredible seeing them as a four-piece band accompanied by a full orchestra in one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Of all the people the BBC could have commissioned to write a piece to celebrate their centenary, they chose this little band from South London

Public Service Broadcasting announce This New Noise, the newly remixed and remastered live recording of their acclaimed 2022 BBC Proms show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, released on 8 September 2023 via Test Card Recordings. A celebration of the power of radio written in recognition of the centenary of the BBC, This New Noise saw the band joining forces with the 88 piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley. A standout performance from 2022’s BBC Proms, it received 5*s in The Telegraph who called it “a resonant, timely and ultimately touching show”. Founder member J. Willgoose, Esq. remixed the concert from scratch, bringing out even more depth and texture from a multi-layered performance and showing it in a new light.

Got my signed copy this morning. They did a meet and greet in Resident Records in Brighton yesterday but, now that the schools are back, I couldn't go

Heard the recording of This New Noise on 6Music earlier in the week, such an epic I really love their style and what I know of them, need to get familiar with more of their material.

You definitely need to listen to their earlier albums, just to find out why I keep going on about how good they are! |

Have always loved them, I enjoyed watching the Prom on TV last year so will look forward to hearing this again.
I sent Spitfire to BJSC in 2014! But could just have easily sent Night Mail or something else, I love their style. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 9th September 2023, 10:43 PM |
