On the first listen, I really enjoyed this I think a lot of the tracks are going to be growers too. Finished my listen to go check out the announcement to find SEVEN MORE SONGS?! Going to listen in a minute but I cannot wait
First listen ranking: 1. Anti-Hero - OBSESSED 2. Maroon - stunning! 3. You’re On Your Own Kid - stunning again, think this will be a grower too 4. Snow On The Beach (feat. Lana Del Ray) - stunning again, could've done with more lana though 5. Karma - bopppp! hope this grows too 6. Lavender Haze - this was not was I was expecting at all but it's cute! definitely i think he knows vibes 7. Labyrinth 9. Mastermind 8. Question…? 10. Sweet Nothing 11. Vigilante Shit - what a letdown it will grow but it's probably this low because i was expecting a big chorus and it never came 12. Bejeweled - the production of this definitely gives me reputation? 13. Midnights Rain - not a fan of this ;-; hope it grows but the distorted vocals are so jarring |

the 7 extra songs (on first listen) seem to be some of her most filler tracks ever... i must say i wasn't really listening.
Nothing grabbed me like Cocaine on the Beach or Maroon i'm a bit tired of everyone copying Chris Brown () with these long albums. This post has been edited by dannjohn: 21st October 2022, 08:41 AM |

Would've Could've Should've HELLO?!?!?! Genuinely think that's one of my favourite taylor songs ever already omg
Ranking of the 7: 1. Would’ve Could’ve, Should’ve 2. The Great War 3. Dear Reader 4. Bigger Than The Whole Sky 5. Glitch 6. High Infidelity 7. Paris For sure improved the overall quality of this for me, but I can see why they weren't included on the standard version as there is a difference in sound - some of these had more of a folkmore sound tbh! |

Just read through everyone’s comments. Mixed feelings but generally everyone seems to be enjoying the album. Seems like a grower of an album.
Love that Taylor brought down Spotify 😂 Metacritic initial score so good! Now at 94 (9 positive ratings & 0 mixed/negative ratings) with 8.8 user score. I forgot Lana was on Snow on the beach 😂 The Great War - like it a lot Bigger than the whole sky - such a beautiful song Paris - okay High infidelity - LOVE Glitch - Not really a fan to be honest on first listen Would’ve could’ve should’ve - pretty cool - great sound (and will be a grower for me for sure like Delicate was Dear reader - beautiful I love the sounds in these 7 tracks So my top songs atm: Maroon Anti hero You’re on your own kid Question Bejeweled High infidelity And so many others are strong / growing on me including Lavender Haze and Karama! Taylor fans are so lucky! This post has been edited by London: 21st October 2022, 10:09 AM |

First listen review:
08.5 Lavender Haze | > Really liking this as an opener. Without hearing any of the other tracks prior, you can immediately tell what sound she's going for with this. < 09.0 Maroon | > This is so good. Potential to grow, despite loving it right from the start. <[/l] 10.0 Anti-Hero | [i]> Yeahhhh, this is fantastic. LOOOOOVVVVEEEE! Perfect choice as the single to push from the album! < 08.0 Snow At The Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey) | > This is lovely! Definitely the most 'folklore' so far, but could be a grower. I'm kinda glad LDR isn't so prominent! < 09.0 You're On Your Own, Kid | > This is hypnotically good. There's a certain thing about the production on this that keeps me hooked! Gorgeous! < 09.0 Midnight Rain | > Gorgeous. I think this may be my sleeper hit off this album (the one I adore but not many others will appreciate). The production and vocal effects... bliss! < 10.0 Question...? | > Soooo good! This sound really, really works for her and the melody in this is beautiful! < 08.5 Vigilante Shit | > Veryyyy interesting. It's very 'Reputation' era... with the subtlety and vibe of 'folklore'/'evermore'. It works! Think this could be a big grower! < 08.5 Bejeweled | > So good. I do love a big explosive moment in synth pop bangers! < 09.0 Labyrinth | > This started off strong anyway, but it got better as it went on... Lovely! < 09.0 Karma | > I think this would also work very well as a single. Tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the one Tik Tok took too and had some kind of trend to it. < 07.0 Sweet Nothing | > I think this is sweet. But it's definitely the most "eh" I've felt during the album. I think this is kinda what I feared the album would be full of with the initial reviews. < 08.5 Mastermind | > Love this as the ending! Again the production is stellar! < --- 09.0 The Great War | > This is so good! Kinda should've been on the main album, but idk what it'd replace, so I kinda get why she didn't include it if she was telling a story with this. < 07.5 Bigger Than The Whole Sky | > This is nice. But definitely filler. Maybe a grower though. < 07.5 Paris | > Again, it's nice and slightly better than BTTWS, but definitely filler amongst this album. Not a bad thing necessarily! < 08.0 High Infidelity | > Really liking this. Particularly the way she sings the title of the track. < 07.5 Glitch | > Quite interesting in it's melody. Think it needs to grow! < 09.0 Would've, Could've, Should've | > Oh yeahhhh this is great! In keeping with 'Midnights' sound and vibe, but there's a sense of 'Red' to it. So good! There's a "classic Taylor" vibe to this... < 07.5 Dear Reader | > Again... another fillery one. But it's nice though. < --- First Listen Ranking: 01. Anti-Hero 02. Question...? 03. You're On Your Own, Kid Would've, Could've, Should've 04. Midnight Rain 05. Karma The Great War 06. Maroon 07. Labyrinth 08. Mastermind 09. Lavender Haze 10. Vigilante Shit 11. Bejeweled High Infidelity 12. Snow At The Beach Glitch Dear Reader Paris Bigger Than The Sky 13. Sweet Nothing THOUGHTS: Idk if it's been preempted by the earlier mixed reviews or not but... I absolutely LOVE this album. But then again, this is the sound I love the most from her! That dark, subtle electro, synth-pop vibe. 'Out Of The Woods', 'Getaway Car', 'Dress', 'Delicate' etc... are all amongst Taylor's very best songs for me. There's nothing that pops off *quite* as much as OOTW or Getaway Car, but they share a similar vibe/style and I LOVE it. I can't tell if people are loving this album or not. But throw me FIRMLY in the LOOOOVVVVEEEE camp. |

I do think I'll stick to the original 13 tracks and just queue the 3 bonus tracks I like though in the future. But I'll see if they grow first.

Already so obsessed and in love with anti-hero, snow on the beach (that chorus is stuck in my head!), karma & vigilante shit (yep this is already over to the faves category, I love the Rep vibes and it feels like it could be a Rep vault track!). Like basically everyone else, would’ve could’ve should’ve is my fave of the 3am tracks.
Also the Apple Music start is insane! I feel like folkmore didn’t hit those highs till like early evening on 1st day iirc |

I’m not that huge on the 3am tracks either, Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve is definitely the best of them.
With more listens, the album is growing on me a bit, I think it’s just not what I wanted. I am never that keen on subtle synth pop anyway, so a whole album of it was never going to be my vibe. Anti-Hero and Karma are excellent though and I also really like Snow On The Beach, You’re On Your Own Kid, Bejewelled and Lavender Haze. By no means is it bad, it’s a great album, I just am not a huge album person often and I don’t want “you have to listen to it loads of times to get it and for it to grow on you” from a Taylor album, I’m used to instant highlights and huge faves! It’s the least I’ve enjoyed an album since debut, but I am still enjoying it, I’m just disappointed. |
