10 September 1997 saw the first release of 'GBI (German Bold Italic)', a collaboration between Kylie and Japanese-American music producer Towa Tei (of 'Deee-Lite' fame). It's a left-field house-techno song that portrays Kylie as a typeface called 'German Bold Italic'. Although only a minor hit, reaching #50 in Australia and #63 in the UK (released in 1998), critics were won over and praised it for its unique position within Kylie's discography. 25 years on, what are your thoughts on 'GBI'? |

I do like this, the video is a bit eccentric but the chorus is a complete earworm.

Still one of my favourites, I love everything about this and I still think it sounds great today.
At the time when it charted at #63 I was horrified as it looked like such a flop on her chart history whereas now I’d welcome a single reaching that position  I have so many versions of this from various countries it was released in around the world and they are all totally different which was/is a nightmare for collectors

At the time I didn't really see it as kylie single as such but was happy it charted, but it does sound great to this day and a song that could do well if used by a current artist.
