Just wanted to talk about the great new single from Lil Yachty that was released on Friday. It follows his fantastic album "Let's Start Here" released back in January. The record was a stylistic change for Yachty, touching on psychedelic rock, soul and funk. This new track goes back to his previous style of trap, similar to his 2022 UK top 40 hit "Poland". There is no evidence to suggest that this will be the lead single for his 6th studio album, but then again there is no evidence against it.

Not heard this yet and a bit bummed to hear that he's already gone back to his old style but just posting some belated appreciation for 'Let's Start Here.' as I don't think there was ever a thread for it (I ought to get back to making threads for albums I am listening to again x) - I was a bit sceptical of the 'Lil Yachty making psychedelic rock' gimmick but there are lots of legitimately great songs on there, particularly love 'the BLACK seminole.', 'IVE OFFICIALLY LOST ViSiON!!!!' and 'REACH THE SUNSHINE.' heart.gif (the former two both having uncredited features from Diana (fka Wynter) Gordon)! + 'sAy sOMETHINg' took a couple of listens to click with me, which didn't help with my initial scepticism about the album considering it was the first song I listened to from it with the music video, but I do really like that one now too, strong Tame Impala vibes. Hope that album won't end up just being a one off.

I agree, 'Let's Start Here' never really got its flowers on this platform (as does a lot of great albums by 'hip-hop' artists). It was so refreshing to see Lil Yachty change up his style for an album, and for an album of such quality! You can definitely here Jake Portrait's influence throughout the record, thats good as i've been a fan of a lot of projects by Unknown Mortal Orchestra. For me Yachty is a bit of a hit or miss artist, I love 'Lil Boat', 'Lil Boat 2' and 'Lets Start Here' (Lil Boat is probably my fave), but equally 'Teenage Emotions', 'Nuthin 2 Prove' and 'Lil Boat 3' deserve to go in a trash bin.
