This is specifically concerning albums and singles released this year.

I am intrigued as to how many people are playing the Dua Lipa cassette single for example.

I don't buy cassettes all that often. But I do play them, not frequently, but only if I'm in the mood to do so. I don't bother with singles ones coz I don't get the point? laugh.gif

CD Singles just depends on how much I like the artist and/or the song.

CD Albums I still like to buy regularly and do play them a fair bit.

Vinyl albums I am very new to it. But I love playing them. I enjoy the novelty (like the tape) of turning it around when one side finishes etc.. I have made a rule for myself, I'm only going to buy variants where I can! Not interested in standard black vinyl! laugh.gif (Unless it's super cheap! Like I did for WILLOW - Lately I Feel Everything as I saw it for £14.99 in hmv's sale, got home though and it was actually a really nice red!)

I'm not going to lie, the ones I have got are just there to look at lmao. But I have got them because they also included a concert ticket and I wanted to support the artist (Raye, Olivia Dean, Mabel)

I haven’t bought a cassette since 1998.

But I always listen to the CDs and vinyls I purchase. I actually most of my music through listening to physical products these days, I even bought a CD player earlier this year.

I'd argue vinyl albums and cassette singles are 2 different worlds

Purely collectors items from my favourite artists for me! Haven't played a cassette or CD in anger properly since I was a very young kid back in the late 2000s probably.

Why did you ever listen to them in anger?

i buy cds regularly, i get most albums i enjoy on cd format. i have a handful of cd singles too. i play these all quite often. i do also have a handful of cassettes as i usually preprder the cd/cassette bundle just for colelction purposes tbh. my cd player can play cassettes but they sound awful so i keep them for collection mainly. i wish i could collect vinyl too but i just dont have the budget, might get a handful of albums i reaaaly like on vinyl but ill stick to my cds

I collect vinyl and do play them! I got a turntable in 2014 and haven't looked back since.

I like to listen to them when they first arrive, whilst admiring the sleeve. But it is usually the once because of course usually it only has 1 track on it.

I do listen to the cassettes too. They're more interesting to listen to, as they have an analogue quality to them. Unfortunately they don't sound as good as they used to.

I definitely play my vinyl albums and singles and that's the main format of any physical purchase I make. That said, I did have about 100 or so before I ever had a turntable to play them on so I was definitely guilty of buying them as a collectors item too.

I hardly ever buy a CD. I did get the expanded Erasure albums but only because it was the only format available for them and they were a childhood fave so I have an attachment to them. Aside from that, I only get a CD if it's cheaper on Amazon to buy the CD with a free download than it is to just download it - generally I just give the CD to my dad so it serves two purposes then. Cassettes? Wow, I haven't had one of them since about 1993 maybe?

I definitely listen to my vinyl/CD collection quite a lot, more so for albums. I don't tend to get many cassettes, most of the ones I do have are either signed or very cheap so I bought them to collect or came in a bundle.

I rip CDs to my iTunes library where I play them while I'm at home. I do have a CD/cassette player in my bedroom but I haven't used it in a while, I haven't needed to, so CDs don't get played directly but they go onto my iTunes and I keep them for my vast collection! Cassettes are just for the collection part, I have a selection but haven't played one in a very long time (also don't have a vinyl player but I have a small selection of those, mostly for display purposes as I have six on my wall).

I drive an old car which still has a CD player, so don't buy if I didn't want to listening to them when driving.

I buy a lot of vinyl and listen to that a lot, I prefer listening to physical copy and it just sounds best on vinyl in my opinion.

Vinyl
I sometimes buy these, and I do occasionally listen to them. It's easy less effort to just stick the album on Alexa or my phone though! I only really but these for my absolute favourite albums (or artists), and they're expensive, so I don't buy too many!

Cassettes
I buy these purely because I've always loved the look of them! Any cassette single by an artist that I love (and have noticed before it sold out) I've snapped up! I have Cocoon by Ash (released 2015) and Feeder's Borders (2012 EOY #1!), but more recently picked up the Padam Padam (memories), Dua and Olivia cassettes (99p for something that looks so cool!). Contemplating the Padam mixtape too, as it looks fun!

CDs
I have hundreds of singles/albums, but I don't think they look particularly special and I can only really play them on games consoles. I'll only by these to support my favourite artists, and never play them! Last single in bought was Borders (again), though think I was gifted Band Aid 30?

With streaming, physical music is primarily just ornamental to me!

With the exception of Feeder (which I try to collect everything from... Hello 8 Torpedo sales!), I'm only interested in vinyl albums (and then, only the best ones!) and cassingles (7" are usually too much to warrant the price, especially as I can't see myself popping them in three record player to flip over after a whole one song!)

It's literally all about supporting my favourite artists. I'd be disappointed if physical sales were ever excluded from the chart (at long as they're not free), as I think to go online and order even a cassette really does justify those sales/keep the chart interesting!

My car doesn’t have a CD player so I rip my CDs onto my computer and transfer them to a USB stick to play in my car

I don't have a turntable so my (very few) vinyls are for collection purposes only.

I still have my cassette Walkman so I do sometimes play new cassettes. I've had my current hi-fi system since 2014 but only use the CD player about once a month.
