I entered the following prompt into ChatGPT

Can you provide me with a list of 50 obscure cult albums from the 90s that were critically acclaimed without repeating an artist?

Of the 50 albums that were returned in the list, I only own 3 of them and have heard parts of another 2. There is a lot to be discovered here - for me, at least.

Is there anything we could do here as a collective - maybe take one a week and do a listen through. Perhaps a book club type where we go away and listen to one each month? Maybe a sample play list that we could listen to and review?

Any ideas?

I was considering not posting the list to maintain curiosity and anticipation.

I think maybe we could listen to each album you put up in our own time and then post our thoughts. I haven't been getting many people turning up for the album listenthroughs I've been doing, nor have the 21st Century mods for their albums I think.

But it all depends on what album
And what artist
Also depends on the day of the listening session

So Tori is a yes and I do make an effort to find time
But others it would need to be something really interesting

Of course.

The book club idea could work but it's a lot less interactive. Perhaps there really isn't the interest in a listen through to albums from artists that might be leaser known.

To give a sample of the list

Neutral Milk Hotel - "On Avery Island" (1996)
Codeine - "The White Birch" (1994)
Mazzy Star - "So Tonight That I Might See" (1993)
Sebadoh - "Bakesale" (1994)
The Magnetic Fields - "The Charm of the Highway Strip" (1994)
Stereolab - "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" (1996)
The Microphones - "The Glow Pt. 2" (1997)

Are they all of similar genres?

The bands I recognise are all of similar genres - indie/alternative.

This may not be suitable for this forum.

I think I'd be up for some of them but I'm not sure I fancy fifty 90s alternative albums in a row... would it be possible to also ask for some obscure cult albums from dance and pop genres to make it a little more varied?
