Was planning to probably go with this! (not sure if it might be worth starting a bit earlier than usual due to the elephant on the deck thinking.gif I see the Spotify playlist is 3 hours 11 minutes. Although tbf quite a few of us already listened through the whole song once so maybe it's not too big of a deal if it's left as a late finisher for the true hardcore who are up for listening to all of it again lmao)

Yeah if Don Salsa is really just being put last being of its run time that's a bit iffy imo. I know the running order is pretty much irrelevant in the grand scheme of things but if it's typically completely randomised I don't see why there should be an allowance made here. We've had long songs scattered throughout the order in the past so who decides the criteria for making exceptions for extremely long songs?

I don't think it's a judgement call that makes that big a deal tbh? Like I'd get if it maybe it had some knock on effect that meant placing them last was unfair and maybe affected their performance, but if anything this draws attention to the song, it's a discussion point and it's getting highlighted. Putting it last in the semi made it an event in the plug listen throughs even! Which when you send a 30+ minute song (which let's be honest, is purely provocative rather than anything else) is surely what you want out of it? A reaction!

Putting Scotland 2 last on purpose was my suggestion btw (following the precedent of Rob doing the same with the hour long Arca song), just to shield Oliver from criticism x

It's really just to avoid disruption to the listenthroughs i.e. giving an easy opportunity for people to just leave partway through if they don't want to listen to all of it (which is perfectly reasonable in extreme cases like this). As it happens no one did leave partway through in the semi-final listenthrough though so maybe it wasn't really necessary after all.

Fair enough and understandable, always intriguing to know what goes on behind the scenes.

Aside: although they typically are, there's not actually any rule that running orders have to be randomised!

I was actually going to go full Eurovision and pick the song order myself but thought that was unfair! laugh.gif

As others have said, the only reason I put Scotland 2 last was so that when people are joining the listen through a they aren’t forced to wait half an hour if the song isn’t to their taste, where they could leave instead of the song is at the end.

For what it’s worth random.org put it at 40 so I only move it two places. laugh.gif

I would like to vote on time but I may have to request an exemption based on personal grounds. Details can be found in the “How Are You” thread in The Lounge. I hope the mods can understand.

Yeah of course, more than happy to do that. Wishing you and yours all the best and your Dad a successful recovery. Mine had a stent a couple of years ago and is in good health these days
