Welcome to Week 6!
It was a very tight race between as many as 5 songs but eventually David Bowie - Sound And Vision emerged victorious in the Week 5 poll with 9 votes, meaning Bowie has claimed 2 on the trot. Previous winners week 1: Danny And The Juniors - At The Hop week 2: Dusty Springfield - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself week 3: Otis Redding - (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay week 4: David Bowie - Life On Mars? |

Best (followed my usual principal of not voting for more than half but went for 7/15):
Rose Royce Gerry Rafferty Frankie Valli Earth, Wind And Fire Jacko ABBA Vapors Really like the ELO song but it just missed out. Worst is tough this week as there's a lot that's very meh but nothing terrible. I went for David Essex (extremely naff) Sex Pistols (all 3 songs played by them were pretty poor sadly) and Jacko (balancing out my best vote). |

Think I'll go for 8 in the Best poll - Wishing on a Star, Baker Street, September, Lucky Number, Reasins to be Cheerful (Part 3), Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Gimme Gimme Gimme & Rappers Delight. Lene Lovich the best new track this week and also liked that flute cover of Annie's Song.
Tough with the worst, none of them are objectionable, just all left no impression. The Johnny Mathis & Roberta Flack songs were the most sleep-inducing so those will do x |

Best: Gerry Rafferty, The Sugarhill Gang, Michael Jackson (with Earth, Wind & Fire and The Vapors close, Lene Lovich was also a good discovery)
Worst: The Bellamy Brothers (yay that we got to hear a better song from them as a bonus at least!) |

Voted for my top 3 of 'September', 'Rapper's Delight' and 'I'm In The Mood For Dancing'. 'Jump To The Beat' was next, regretting not throwing it a vote too as the last left on 0.
'Lucky Stars' was even more cringe than I remembered, so I voted that for worst. On principle, all the #3 Sex Pistols songs would have deserved a vote as an affront to what the original line-up stood for, but musically they're innocuous enough. |

Michael Jackson and Roberta Flack/Donny Hathaway for the worst |

David Essex the worst
lots of good ones, ABBA being the best. Still shocked The Nolans wasn't a #1, was convinced it had been #1 |

so many classics in both lists. Among the top notch classics I could easily have voted for (in a Best Of list): Abba, David Essex, ELO, Grease, Jackson, Roberta & late Donny, Rose Royce, and many more.
So I restricted my votes to one each: Baker Street is the greatest record of all-time, votes for other records not needed. Lucky Stars was a dirge when it was fresh and new and remains so now. It needs to be in a worst list on it's own as it's not even close with the next-nearest least-good track (Bellamy Brothers). PS The Nolans have slipped into the wrong category I'm afraid, oops! Easily their worst record by a country mile, they did have some good ones later on. |

Looks like it will be another close one with 5 songs in the mix!
I was surprised how slow a start Baker Street had - glad it’s picking up. I’m slightly regretting my vote actually: I think I should have voted for The Sugarhill Gang and left out Jacko. |
