It's the americans this time...

Store pulls adverts after US Big Brother row

Home improvement store Lowe's has pulled its commercials from the US version of Big Brother following a controversial remark from a contestant.

Adam Jasinski referred to people with autism as "r*t****" on the CBS show, prompting advocacy group Autism United to demand an apology from the network.

The 29yearold was criticised by fellow houseguest Sheila for the slur, but replied "Disabled kids. I can call them whatever I want. I work with them all day, okay?"

It was later confirmed that he works for the United Autism Foundation of Florida.

CBS agreed that the statement was "offensive" but said it was "countered by the immediate reaction of shock and condemnation" from Sheila.

However, Lowe's bosses opted to pull their commercials in the wake of the row, saying "We decided not to advertise on [Big Brother] further."

Autism United’s executive director John Gilmer said he approved of the move, telling Advertising Age "Lowe's is doing the responsible thing."

Political correctness gone mad, while his views are repugnant the whole point of stuff like Big Brother is to get people together so as to show what they are like in real life, if he is like that and they are his views then you have to accept the program warts and all however repugnant peoples views are on some matters, having people sanitise their views and be all wishy washy liberals just because they are on national tv would kill the program so while not endorsing his views I believe in freedom of speech and think there has been a total over reaction

And why should CBS apologise as it doesn't achieve anything, if anything it should be the guy who made the comments.

Hopefully not for much longer.... If this ignorant tw@t actually works in a school or whatever, he should be handed his fukkin' P45 (or whatever the US equivalent is...) as soon as he gets out the BB house.... dry.gif If I was the parent of a kid with Autism I sure as hell would not want a fukkin' moron with those kinds of attitudes anywhere near them.....

I guess in a way, BB has actually performed a service... Exposed this piece of sh!t for what he is - an ignoramus who has no business being near kids. ANY kids.....

Yeah from that point of view you've got a decent point. Its not the most crazy political correctness example we've seen recently. Its ALMOST justified

None of us in this country have any right to judge the guy though hovever vile his opinions

Everyone here laughed at and ridiculed Shabaaz in the previous BB when he was behaving all weirdly, Shabaaz suffered from a mental illness, we all made fun of Pete shouting "w*n**rs" all the time when again it was part of a mental condition that caused him to behave like that, we treated those 2 people with mental conditions like circus freaks so are we ultimately any better than this guy ? unsure.gif
