ok, following on from my useful (to me) excercise charting hit singles 1960-2007 i now present the 'chart of charts'. points awarded in 3 catagories.... 1) the chart for the most hits, 2) the chart of 'all time favs' and 3) the chart of favs made up by awarding points reletive to how good they were (all time favs = 5pts, god = 3 pts, ok = 1 pt). the top year in each chart recieved 48 points, the second 47, etc until the last got 1 point.

 

so out of a possible total of 144.

well im pretty happy with this result, a few surprises like 86 doing so well ! beating 81. the early 00's did well too . thought 78, 79 would have been higher. thought 76 or 89 would have been bottem, but that place is firmly held by 1990, with 62 surprisingly low and 76 beating 75. the 60's though is my fav era followed by the post punk/new romantic then 99-03, 03 doing surprisingly well.
