Umi's Chart Highlights
  • "Rude" leads the Hot 100 once more this week but leads none of its components. This is only the 7th time this has happened since the introduction of Streaming Songs to the Hot 100 formula.
  • "Stay With Me" remains at #1 but closes the gap further on "Rude": last week, the gap was 9%. This week, only 6%.
  • "Fancy" rests at #3 on the Hot 100 but remains at #1 on streaming for a 13th week, which equals the longest run at #1 to date (Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball").
  • Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" jumps to #1 on Digital Songs, becoming the greatest gainer on the chart for the 4th week in a row. This is the first time this has happened since the Digital Songs chart began in 2005.
  • Nicki Minaj débuts at #19 with "Anaconda" and in doing so grabs her 51st Hot 100 hit. This allows her to pass Michael Jackon's total 50 Hot 100 entries and draw level with Rod Stewart. She also extends her lead as female rapper with the most Hot 100 hits (Missy Elliott is #2 with 31) and ties Eminem in 7th among all rappers. Lil' Wayne leads the rapper list with 122 Hot 100 hits.
  • Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.2 million downloads, down 1 percent compared with last week (20.4 million) and down 8 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (22.1 million).
  • Year-to-date track sales are at 715.6 million, down 13 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (820.2 million).

I read about Nicki passing MJ and initially I though that meant she had the most Hot 100 hits of all time - HOW HAS LIL WAYNE GOT 122 drama.gif I don't even.

probably because he features on everyone's songs laugh.gif

I would guess that Glee Cast have the most Hot 100 hits of all time. Their domination will be hard to beat

Quite surprising that Meghan record is a first, I suppose she's lucky that there haven't really been any other fast growers the last few weeks.

Nicki Minaj having more hits than Michael Jackson already is pretty unbelievable - I suppose he's still well ahead counting hits with the Jackson 5 though.

Sam might not get #1! With the gap closed by only 3% this week, 'Rude' may hang on next week and Meghan could be #1 the week after. But I hope Sam gets it.

And yes I can't say I remember any Lil Wayne hits either, just a couple of features. Would never have guessed he was THAT commonly used as a featured rapper though.

Same here! But some of the headlines were seriously misleading, depending on where you read it. On a similar note, No Mediocre is apparently T.I.'s 28th top 40 hit! I think that one surprises me even more (though I was well aware of Lil Wayne having a huge number).

Very pleased to see Boom Clap in the top 10 as I feared it'd be like Sing and never make it. And, I expected higher than #19 for Anaconda.

True, it's generally kind if implied that if you make a big deal out of someone's achievement being beaten, they held the record. And nowhere I read about it mentioned the wealth of artists with more hits than Michael!
