really shocking scenes out of paris today. radicalised individuals seem to have stormed the offices of a left-wing v outspoken magazine killing 12
there are some really disturbing youtube videos out there showing them shoot a police officer and then walking past him and shooting him at close range in the head. RIP to all the victims |

I just saw the video you're talking about. I am appalled
The magazine was having a meeting so most of their people were in the same room. This was very specifically planned. This post has been edited by *Tim: Jan 7 2015, 02:51 PM |

Jesus Christ, this is absolutely terrible :/ Is this down to a drawing of Muhammad or something stupid along those lines? Really sad that things like this still happen. R.I.P. to the victims.

Absolutely awful. An attack on freedom of speech. Hopefully these extremists are brought to justice and don't cop it out by being killed in action. |

I have read that the policeman in the video mentioned in the first post is actually (possibly) still alive (there is no blood visible in the video which suggests the headshot missed). Doesn't make it any less shocking though of course.

Two cops killed, one was the police bodyguard assigned to the magazine's editor who had already received many death threats.

I wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened in Russia (in fact it kinda did, some anti-LGBT people attacked an LGBT organisation HQ, iirc no fatalities but that was just luck) but Paris. Seriously f***ed up people who did this.

There has been another shooting in Southern Paris this morning, killing one policewoman and injuring another. They don't think it's connected to yesterday's attack yet but it's truly horrendous.

all the world's people, including Muslims, who feel that basic democratic rights and equality for all are the only true way forward should speak out agianst all those who try to deny this right. The right to speak your mind is everything, even if others don't like what you say, providing it's not inciting hatred and anything which denies those rights.
If anyone doesn't agree with that philosophy there are plenty of countries who also don't agree with it who would welcome those of a like mind. Just don't expect a welcome return on having a convenient change of heart... |

Apparently the 18-year-old who went to police had been named as a suspect but he may have been at school at the time of the attack. Yeah they rectified that in the news. The 2 guys who are the main suspects, from which one left his ID in the car they fled with so he's basically confirmed, have robbed a gas station, so they are now onto them and have apparantly localised them in a village in the North of France. French media are claiming they are hidding in a house in Crépy-en-Valois. They better get them and serve justice! I want them alive and in prison for the rest of their lives This post has been edited by *Tim: Jan 8 2015, 02:08 PM |

It wouldn't surprise me if they ended up dead in action or just suicide. Gosh, I do hope they're caught, I can't face the thought of any of these scum getting away without justice, dead or alive.
So tragic in general, really is horrible that humour and free speech can lead to this... Some hilarious and at the same time, sad artworks made in tribute here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/ryanhatesthis/hear...qpgp#.yngmoPkkz |

Just don't expect a welcome return on having a convenient change of heart... At least the BBC have given some airtime to Muslims condemning this atrocity. All too often, Muslim voices are not heard which just encourages the belief that most Muslims support terrorism. The truth is that most Muslims oppose yesterday's attack just as much as the rest of us. |

The two suspects (I say suspects but it's pretty clearly them, one of them left an ID card in the getaway vehicle they abandoned) have reportedly robbed a service station since the attack. Please let them be caught before they kill anyone else :/
EDIT: Oh Tim already said this, must learn to read. Charlie Hebdo have confirmed they're continuing (with a massively increased print run for the next issue) despite their loss of staff. |
