1) Name a director who is considered to be an ‘auteur’.

Aki Kaurismäki 0 (Jade) Pointless!
Akira Kurosawa 0 (Jonjo) Pointless!
Buster Keaton 0 (Mack) Pointless!
David Lynch 0 (Regina) Pointless!
David O. Russell 0 (Alex) Pointless!
Erich von Stroheim 0 (Notfurlong) Pointless!
Gus Van sant 0 (Joe) Pointless!
Harmony Korine 0 (Ethan Bradberry) Pointless!
Hayao Miyasaki 0 (Iz) Pointless!
Ingmar Bergman 0 (Ethan) Pointless!
Michel Gondry 0 (Richie) Pointless!
Roman Polanski 0 (Haus) Pointless!
Quintin Tarintino 0 (Chez Wombat) Pointless!
Win Wenders 0 (Princess Lotti) Pointless!
Wes Anderson 0 (Ultraviolence1989) Pointless!
Woody Allen 0 (Leonardo) Pointless!
Yasujirô Ozu 0 (SamJudd) Pointless!
Zack Snyder 0 (jsilv) Pointless!
Alfred Hitchcock 1 (Jack, Burbe)
James Cameron 1 (Bre, Virginia’s Walls)
Stanley Kurbrick 1 (Dobbo, JAHQ)

Here we many pointless answers mainly due to the face that many directors could be a auteur to a stretch (just as long as they are directors and not just producers) . From Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, David Lynch and Quintin Tarintino. Even we have international auteurs such as Hayao Miyasaki and Aki Kaurismäki. Alfred Hitchcock, James Cameron and Stanley Kurbrick are the only ones not to be pointless. So great answers here cheer.gif

2) Name a movie Simon Pegg has starred in.

Absolutely Anything 0 (jsilv) Pointless!
Burke & Hare 0 (Alex) Pointless!
Hector and The Search For Happiness 0 (Ultraviolence1989) Pointless!
Hot Fuzz 0 (Dobbo) Pointless!
Man Up 0 (JAHQ) Pointless!
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol 0 (Regina) Pointless!
Paul 0 (Princess Lotti) Pointless!
Shaun Of The Dead 0 (Virginia’s Walls) Pointless!
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens 0 (Jonjo) Pointless!
The Good Night 0 (SamJudd) Pointless!
The World’s End 0 (Bre) Pointless!
24 Hour Party People 1 (Richie, Ethan)
How To Lose Friends And Alienate People 1 (Jack, Haus)
Run Fatboy Run 1 (Jade, Burbe)
Star Trek 1 (Iz, Leonardo)
Big Nothing 4 (Chez Wombat, Ethan Bradberry, Notfurlong, Mack, Joe)

Again plenty of pointless answers including Paul, The Worlds End, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Man Up and my personal favorite film of ALL TIME Shaun Of The Dead. The other answers 24 Hour party People, How To Lose Friends and Alienate people, Run Fatboy Run and Star Treck all gained 1 point. However sad news for Chez, Spadam, Notfurlong, Mack and Joe as Big Nothing for them scored 4 points.

Thought for a second there you'd described Star Trek as Star Trek 1 and was about to nerd school you hitler.gif

Logic took me away from Into Darkness but it seems no one answered that. Aww.

3) Name a movie directed by Wes Anderson.

Bottle Rocket 0 (Iz) Pointless!
The Royal Tenenbaums 0 (Joe) Pointless!
Fantastic Mr. Fox 1 (JAHQ, Leonardo)
The Grand Budapest Hotel 1 (Jade, jsilv)
Rushmore 2 (Notfurlong, Mack, Ethan)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 2 (Regina, Richie, Ultraviolence1989)
The Moonrise Kingdom 2 (SamJudd, Jonjo, Ethan Bradberry)
The Darjeeling Limited 3 (Jack, Princess Lotti, Chez Wombat, Haus)
Hotel Chevalier – Incorrect (Burbe) 24
It’s Wes – Incorrect (Dobbo) 24
Alvin and The Chipmunks 4 - Incorrect (Bre) 24
The Squid and the Whale - Incorrect (Alex) 24
The Matrix – Incorrect (Virginia’s Walls) 24

Here have the visionary Wes Anderson who I would say is known for using the same actors in his films, having beautiful colors within his scenery, great cinematography and lovely mise en scene. Only two pointless answers here Bottle Rocket (which was also a short film FACT and was his major film debut), The Royal Tenenbaums is also pointless this round.
Fantastic Fox and The Grand Budapest Hotel both scored 1 point. Rushmore, The Moonrise Kingdom The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou all scored 2 points. The big pointed for this round is The Darjelling Limited scores three points.

In terms of incorrect answers we have, Hotel Chevalier which was a short film not a feature length movie. Wes Anderson does not have a film titled Its Wes under his name Dobbo. Alvin and the Chipmunks 4 was not directed by Wes Anderson, in fact it was directed by Walt Becker. Same with The Matrix which was directed by The Wachowski Brothers not Wes Anderson. Finally he was only a producer on The Squid and the whale NOT a director.

Oh, that was one of the answers I was most confident in sad.gif I did not realise people actually remembered that film.

^that applied to Q2 but the same could be said for Q3 argh! I almost put the Royal Tenenbaums too. Love the question tho, one of my favourite directors heart.gif

I was between Darjeeling Limited (thank gosh I didn't go for that) and Bottle Rocket originally and ended up bang in the middle of those two scores with Aquatic Zissou!

4) Name a spoof/parody movie.

A Haunted House 0 (Burbe) Pointless!
Austin Powers in Goldmember 0 (Ethan) Pointless!
Date Movie 0 (Leonardo) Pointless!
Epic Movie 0 (Chez Wombat) Pointless!
Enchanted 0 (Joe) Pointless!
Flesh Gordon 0 (SamJudd) Pointless!
Hot Shots! 0 (Mack) Pointless!
Meet The Spartans 0 (Princess Lotti) Pointless!
Murder By Death 0 (Regina) Pointless!
The Princess Bride 0 (Iz) Pointless!
Airplane II: The Sequel 0 (Haus) Pointless!
Scary Movie 2 0 (Jade) Pointless!
Scary Movie 3 0 (Jonjo) Pointless!
Scary Movie 4 0 (Ethan Bradberry) Pointless!
The Starving Games 0 (Alex) Pointless!
Top Secret 0 (Richie) Pointless!
Young Frankenstein 0 (Notfurlong) Pointless!
Scary movie 1 (Bre, Virginia’s Walls)
Fifty Shades Of Black 3 (Jack, Ultraviolence1989, JAHQ, jsilv)
One Direction: This Is Us Incorrect (Dobbo) 24

Plenty of Pointless answers here, the main point of a parody is poke fun of a genre, conventions of genres or even themselves (take Enchanted for example) most people understood that. Scary movie gained one point and recent released movie Fifty Shades of black scored 3 points. The only incorrect answer was Dobbo’s was that is more of a documentary concert film. Everyone else bagged a pointless.
