It is a repeat of their 1998 group stage fixture between Colombia v England in this second round. The last match of the second round.

The game is live on ITV. Please use this thread for speculation, pre and post match chat on the England game.

How do you see this going for England?

Not well. If we can start strong & take an early chance or 2 we've got this but it seems too much of a stretch. Colombia are so much better than Tunisia or Panama & they have the individual superstars in Falcao & James to punish any sloppy defending.

It's a test for me, we'll see how good this England team actually is. If James does not play then Colombia are far weaker and make no mistake about it, this side is not as good as they were 4 years ago. It's difficult to read too much in to the Belgium game as we played such a different team. Nobody from that game forced their way back in to the lineup so I think Southgate will go with the same XI as started against Tunisia.

Set up for a big game regardless, looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I think England will have to play a bit like Russia did today against Spain. They have to be well disciplined like they were in defence and try to disrupt Colombia's flow, let them pass the ball about but not to get too close to the box. Hopefully England can counterattack well too.

I think we can push them to the limit. The only problem with this match is televised on ITV, we lost the last match which was shown on ITV laugh.gif will lightning strike twice.

I'd be very surprised about that, our back line and goalkeeper is by far the weakest part of the team. We like to keep possession and so do Colombia. I suspect it will be quite an even;y balanced game, all depends on who takes their chances. Looks like James will play, whether he is fit or not is an entirely different option.

It's funny just how pessimistic England fans have become. I mean, it makes sense, but I think this year is the year we get it right. I'm not saying we'll win it but there's something different about the team this year. I'm excluding the Belgium game from my views because that was an utterly pointless exercise, clear that they were playing for a loss, with our 2nd best set of players playing theirs. Colombia will be the first real test and I think the boys will go out there and really perform.

It's perfectly justified pessimism given how so often in the past we've been optimistic & the team has massively underachieved. The facts are we haven't won a knockout game in 12 years & haven't beaten what most people would consider a strong team since Argentina in 2002. We scraped past an average Tunisia side & I think the Panama demolition has gotten a lot of folks expectations rather uncomfortably high!

Different team to the one from the last 12 years. Players breaking through with everything to give. Let's see hey?

I don't think we scraped past Tunisia either. If theirs was a penalty, 2 of ours should've been penalties. That's potentially 4-1 (or 2-0). Lingard was very off target, we needed to be more clinical and were so against Panama.

The issue is and why many logical England fans like myself and Dobbo are not getting swept away with the emotion is because this England team has massive holes in it. We've not been tested yet properly, our backline is inexperienced and very weak. I don't rate Pickford and Maguire is a huge weak link for me. The players we have now are nowhere near as good as the team we had in 2010 for example, but that failed because we picked the players rather than the team.

Also seems like every British person that isn't English seems to hate the idea of England doing well? I've seen so many Scots and Irish people on YouTube and Facebook calling England 'shite' and hoping they get knocked out.

Don't understand it myself.

The only reason that I don’t want England to do well is because of the media, the ignorance is irritating and the way the media show England is what annoys me.

It comes from jealously and old rivalries, especially with the Scots. Can bet your bottom dollar if the tables were turned all the English would be hating on the Scots or Irish.
