Still loving Promises but actually really quite like Freaky Friday and think it’d be an interesting number 1 providing it doesn’t open up the door to a barrage of number 1s from that genre.

I remember that 2013 very well as it was highly unusual for so many new entries to enter the top 10.

I shall actually be here for once! Not heard the Dave song but 'No Words' was okay for it's kind of song, surprised to see it in contention for #01, I wouldn't know of it's existence outside BuzzJack really.

Jonas Blue, Liam Payne & Lennon Stella
Polaroid
Blue | 2018

7th Single
Released: 5th October 2018
Label: Positiva / Virgin EMI Records

Video

Biography

Jonas Blue
London-based electronic dance producer Jonas Blue (born Guy James Robin in Essex, England) caught the attention of the industry with his reimagining of Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit "Fast Car." Adding a tropical house tint to the plaintive, bittersweet acoustic original, Blue enlisted the talents of young British singer Dakota, whose sultry vocals helped carry the song to the top of 17 international charts, including number one slots in Australia, Scotland, and both the U.K. and U.S. dance charts. In 2016 Blue released "Perfect Strangers," the follow-up to his global smash, featuring JP Cooper on vocals. The single landed in the Top Ten internationally and was followed by "By Your Side" with Raye. The following year he issued "Mama," his collaboration with Australian pop vocalist William Singe. That track would appear on Electronic Nature: The Mix 2017, a compilation of favorites from the DJ's own live sets. In addition to his own hit singles, the collection included his spins on songs by Galantis, Zedd, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, and more. In 2018, Blue released the feel-good house-pop tune "Rise," which saw him collaborating with Nebraskan Vine stars/pop duo Jack & Jack. - iTunes

Liam Payne
Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter. He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction. Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction. One Direction has released five commercially successful albums, performed on four worldwide tours, and won multiple awards. Payne has worked with other producers under the monikers "Big Payno" and "Payno" creating remixes for songs by his band and singer Cheryl.

In 2016, Payne signed a recording deal with Capitol Records as a solo artist. In May 2017, Payne released "Strip That Down" as the lead single from his upcoming debut album. It peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart and number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100, being certified platinum in both countries.

Lennon Stella
Lennon Stella and her younger sister Maisy Stella's joint journey to a musical career is full of Movie of the Week plot points and twists. The sisters are the daughters of Marylynne Stella and Brad Stella, who, as the Stellas, performed as a duo based out of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, coming close to the sun and a commercial career when they appeared on the second season of CMT's short-lived Can You Duet television series in 2009. The husband-and-wife team finished fourth, good enough to draw the attention of EMI Music Canada, which issued the self-titled The Stellas album in 2011. Veronica Bozza was a producer on the show, and struck by the couple's daughters, and particularly Maisy's natural flair for acting, she passed their names on to a casting director. Lennon and Maisy's young careers could have begun there, but tragedy struck. Bozza was murdered and it wasn't until two years later, when Marylynne was attending the trial of the men accused of killing Bozza, that a friend asked for permission to pass on Maisy's name to the casting director for a new television series called Nashville. The casting director turned out to be the same one Bozza had contacted two years earlier, and Maisy was called in to read. Since Lennon had helped Maisy rehearse her lines, she knew them, too, and both sisters were eventually hired to play the daughters of the Rayna James character, played in the show by Connie Britton. But there were problems. The girls were from Canada and didn't have work visas, and when petitioned, immigration officials demanded that Marylynne prove that the girls were legitimate singers and actors. Marylynne put up a YouTube page for the girls and included a hastily done video of Lennon and Maisy singing Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend." Amazingly, the video went viral, gathering some two million views in a couple of days, which in turn landed the sisters on Good Morning America, pretty much taking care of the legitimacy problem. A single from the TV series, "Telescope," featuring the sisters, was released after the third episode of Nashville aired in the fall of 2012. - iTunes

Charli XCX & Troye Sivan
1999
-

Non-Album Single
Released: 5th October 2018
Label: Asylum Records UK

Video

Biography

Charli XCX
Charlotte Emma Aitchison (born 2 August 1992), known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter. She began her career performing at underground raves as a teenager, signing with Asylum Records in 2010.

Her breakthrough came in 2013 when the Icona Pop collaboration "I Love It" became an international sleeper hit, peaking at number-one in her native country. Charli's debut studio album, the dark pop-leaning True Romance, was released later that year to positive reviews. In 2014, she contributed the hook to "Fancy" by rapper Iggy Azalea, which finished the year as one of the best-selling singles worldwide. Charli received her first solo hit with "Boom Clap", from her second studio album Sucker. A departure in sound, the album marked punk and power pop influences, and produced her fourth UK top-ten "Doing It".

Charli completed her third studio album in early 2016, though it suffered leaks and delays amid label frustrations. The BPI-certified singles "After the Afterparty" and "Boys" were released before the album was ultimately shelved. Charli moved towards "trippy, hypersaturated club music" as she began working with artists under the PC Music umbrella, releasing the EP Vroom Vroom (2016), mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 (2017), and a series of one-off singles in 2018.

In addition to her own material, Charli has penned songs for a multitude of artists, including "Same Old Love" and "OctaHate". She has received two Grammy nominations for her work on "Fancy", and was named Best British Solo Artist by the NME Awards in 2016.

Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan Mellet (/trɔɪ sɪˈvɑːn/ TROY sih-VAHN; born 5 June 1995), known professionally as Troye Sivan, is a South African singer, songwriter, actor, and YouTube personality. After gaining popularity as a singer on YouTube and in Australian talent competitions, Sivan signed with EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label, in 2013 and released his debut extended play, TRXYE (2014), which peaked at number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Happy Little Pill", reached number 10 on Australian music charts. In 2015, he released his second extended play Wild followed by his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood, whose lead single "Youth" became Sivan's first single to enter the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 23. Sivan has also earned two number-one singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

As an actor, Sivan portrayed the younger version of the titular character in the 2009 X-Men film X-Men Origins: Wolverine and starred as the title character in the Spud film trilogy. As a YouTube personality, Sivan used to upload video blogs regularly and, as of 2016, has over 4 million subscribers and over 241 million total views. His video, "The 'Boyfriend' Tag", with fellow vlogger Tyler Oakley earned them a Teen Choice Award in the "Choice Web Collaboration" category. In October 2014, Time named Sivan as one of the "25 Most Influential Teens of 2014".

What a shame Polaroid and 1999 haven't cracked the top 40 (yet?). In other times, these would be sure fire hits.

Which is definitely the current problem with the state of the charts/Spotify atm. I really don’t care for these similar sounding urban tracks storming the charts in their first week when tracks like 1999 are missing out initially.
