Hey there and miaow indeed! It's been a little while but the time is finally upon us to commence with the twenty seventh round of Unknown Pleasures here in the indie forum. If you haven't taken part before then the idea is pretty simple, it's a song contest designed to introduce us all to new music so we all submit an entry that we think will be a good discovery for everyone else. I'll then start another thread where the entries are revealed, we all listen to them and then essentially rank our favourites in a set of votes. The votes are then added up by me and I'll reveal the results so we can see who and what has won. As well as the artists and bands being comparatively obscure, we also don't know who sent what as I won't reveal that until the results thread. If you would like to take part then please send me a PM (dandy*) with the following four details: QUOTE Artist: Track: Audio link: (can be youtube, soundcloud, anything else you like really...) MP3 link: (please do submit these if you can, I know lots of people don't these days but I would like to make the accompanying album this time around for people to download and listen to - alas I can't send the playlist to y'all on teal vinyl, as much as I would like to!) Feel free to also include a picture of a cat in the PM if you so fancy. There are a few little rules to adhere to but nothing major...
one // The artist or band must not have reached the top 75 of the UK singles chart, nor the top 40 of the UK albums chart two // The song can't be featured on the current UK release schedule three // The song can't have been submitted to any previous song contest on Buzzjack, the links for the archives are Unknown Pleasures, Nuggets, BJSC, Club Bizarre four // the contest isn't really genre specific, although it is housed in the indie forum for a reason as it is primarily encouraged to send the types of acts that you would start a topic on within this forum. Which most definitely isn't to say it has to be guitar based, indeed the posters in this forum tend to be open to pretty much anything! five // if we get the same act confirmed then I'll allow the first person who submitted it to continue six // have fun and be creative with your entries! I'll try my hardest not to be too strict, we tend not to want to stifle anything in this contest but if you do send something that the mods think is against the spirit of the contest then we may veto the track - you will of course be very welcome to submit an alternate track though Deadline wise, I'm intending on leaving confirmations up for a week so you have until 23:59 next Sunday 28th October to submit something by PM to me. Fingers crossed that's enough time for you all to submit something, I'm looking forward to seeing what gems you have discovered! Any questions, feel free to shout up in the thread and I'll do my best to answer them! Fabulous. Will have to get an entry in for this, don't believe I've taken part in an Unknown Pleasures for a while, although I did do the last Nuggets.

After sitting out the last edition in terms of having an entry and just being an outside voter, I am in with an entry this time! This track has been a great re-discovery for me. <3

Confirmed something that's been sitting in my potentials for BJSC for a while now. Not fully sure it's the right fit for this contest, but I figured it was worth a shot~

Had a think and what I want to send is discounted on the basis of a 27 year old #51 hit - urgh!

I was looking at what I'd listened to most over the last couple of years and thought I'd check Slowdive's history as their album last year was one of my favourites and knew they weren't particularly big when around first time - I'd never heard of them until last year anyway! It was more out of hope than expectation, but I was actually looking at their chart positions for EPs instead of albums and turns out they'd already had a top 40 album and last years comeback charted at #16

Ah okay, intriguing! I've never heard their 90s material, I got their album last year but nothing before it... I may investigate further!
