JUPITERS TOP TRACKS OF 2019 (with a slightly different format to previous ones :)) So this year I'll be starting off by sharing with y'all every track that charted, as this year I was unfortunately pretty sporadic with the weekly charts. That will save me on the commentary a bit & hopefully bring more discoveries for you guys! & towards the higher end we might add some kind of traditional countdown for the bigger tracks of the year. This year saw a bunch more songs charting than usual and a bunch of higher plays up the top end as well, thanks to me gaining the ability to listen to music at work now In terms of what will be landing this year, we have a few tracks recurring from last year with some surges this year, incredibly in the top ten right now one song that was released within the last month (wonder what *that* could be...) Top track of the year is still in contention as this won't be closing proper until year end, but right now it has three pop girlies, a band and a producer fighting to take it - it could legit go either way. BJSC fans will also see a bunch of my entries within this lot. We'll be kicking off thus in one post's time with all the tracks that landed at #40 this year. Then will come #39, #38 and so on as we make our way up. Hope to see some of y'all following along and commenting this year, even if you hate literally everything that comes up. We love threads with engagement in this house ~ This post has been edited by J00ps: 5th March 2020, 05:38 PM |

You Me At Six – Straight to My Head Lil Aaron f/ Kiiara – Makin Money Best Youth – Midnight Rain Razorlight – Iceman Melii f/ A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie – HML Qveen Herby – Beverly Hills Jillian Jacqueline – Priorites Roisin Murphy f/ Ali Love – Jacuzzi Rollercoaster Minke – Too Late Pink f/ Cash Cash – Can We Pretend (the first appearance of Pink in this countdown, and the first of her singles this year. I had a muted reaction to them all tbh - it seemed very 'throw everything at the wall' - but luckily the album proper had some solid unreleased gems that will be appearing higher up) Faye Webster – She Won’t Go Away Ellie Goulding – Hollow Crown (we'll see Ellie again a bit later, she's also had a 'throw everything at the wall' year. This - for the Game of Thrones dountrack album - was probably her closest go at something within her remit but switching it up just a little) Keypro f/ Agnes – Wake Kaiser Chiefs – Record Collection Wolfie – Red Rose Marina – Enjoy Your Life Will Young – Ground Running Rita Ora – Hell of a Life Push Baby – Mama’s House (one of the first on the list that I discovered through the site, thanks to *a certain someone* hammering it on plug. Fun fact, this is the band formerly known as Rixton) Lia Clark f/ Gloria Groove – Terremoto MUNA – Stayaway Banks – The Fall Babymetal – The One Emeli Sandι – Human Valerie Broussard f/ Galantis x BUNT – Roots (Remix) Pabllo Vittar f/ Charli XCX – Flash Pose The Naked and Famous – Sunseeker Snow Patrol – Made of Something Different Now Ariel Pink – Another Weekend This post has been edited by JingleBellJόpes: 20th December 2019, 02:49 PM |

Can We Pretend didn't do it for me, although I've never been fond of Cash Cash so I wasnt expecting it to. also sounds like it should've been released a good few years ago based on the production.
not familiar with the rest although the original mix of Roots was alright. |

Quite a few songs that cracked my chart in that list - Record Collection was a #1 and will be pretty high up my chart. Sunseeker, Made of Something Different Now and Straight to My Head are all decent track as well.

I think I'm not a big fan of Cash Cash either tbh! Yes, its interesting how dofferent things catch us eh?! Record Collection was a decent recurrer for me but only managed a low peak. Whereas something like the Pink song scraped in for one week on curiosity plays but has a low total even 10 months on!

#39 Kesha Finding You Odette Collide CLAIRE The Crash Ritu Bhaggi f/ Raj Ranjodh Bhaggi Love (the first of several Indian hits on this year's chart, a subgenre that I got into during the tail end of 2018 and on into this year) DJ Harpz f/ Ezu + Amar Sandhu Patakay M0 Theme Song (Im Far Away) (it was a quiet year altogether for M0 despite the recent release of her second studio album, unfortunately a little late after the momentum she picked up following the smash success of Major Lazer feature Lean On. This comes from the Moomins reboot tv series & is very sweet) Lewis Capaldi x Madism Someone You Loved (Remix) (yes, this is only as high as the international smash managed, and even then only in remix form. Sorry lew) Kehlani Let Me Live Fifi Rong Awake Kate Bush Sunset (2018 remaster) Sabrina Carpenter Exhale (another year of Sabrina bobbing along the surface. 2018 was much more successful for her, but she's showing stability and promise to level up still) R3hab f/ Julie Bergan Dont Give Up on Me Mabel Mad Love Rosalia Dios Nos Libre Del Dinero (a triumph this year with two long-running hits. Seems to have been going a little backwards lately, but here's hoping Rosalia brings it home again in 2020 - without selling out, hopefully!) Ally Brooke f/ A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Lips Dont Lie (the underdog from 5th Harmony has had an unexpectedly successful year - this is the first of three we'll see from her, with the other two being much bigger. She's done better than Normani!) Katy Perry Small Talk (Ms Perry's first appearance too, and by far the least successful of the three she dropped this year. Pushing this as single #2 was a fatal error) Bastille Another Place Madism f/ Felix Samuel Tried To Love Swimming Girls Holy Place Jake Shears Palace in the Sky (and finally for this section an unexpected recurrence from the Scissor Sisters' frontman. Upon revisiting the album this year, there's some good ballads there. Another one just missed #1 this autumn - look out for that higher up!) |

Giving the MΨ song a listen now, it's a fairly solid track - already heard the Tom Odell and Declan McKenna songs from that soundtrack, a surprisingly good artist list!
Another Place is really growing on me right now, will probably be in my EOY this time next year. |

I really like that Sabrina Carpenter track. I listened to the two Singular albums and thought they were both pretty cute.
Lips Don't Lie was alright but I just can't seem to get into any of Ally's solo music too much. |

I actually really loved Can We Pretend! My favourite P!nk single since What About Us, I loved the euphoric feel of it, and it slotted in surprisingly well in her tour setlist!
Lips Don't Lie was a lowkey bop (no pun intended...!) and I enjoy Small Talk when I listen, though I've not revisited it much considering it hit #1 in my chart...! |

Biffy Clyro Medicine (Unplugged) Christina Aguilera Deserve Wilkinson f/ Hayla I Need (Acoustic) (a sub-subgenre I really enjoyed this year was acoustic versions of dance songs. This peaked low but was a long-runner throughout the year) Lauren Faith Just a Little G-Eazy f/ Yo Gotti + YBN Nahmir 1942 Charli XCX f/ Troye Sivan x Alphalove 1999 (Remix) Avril Lavigne Bigger Wow Gerard Way f/ Ray Toro Hazy Shade of Winter (from The Umbrella Academy - returning soon, can't wait ) Rae Morris Dip My Toe Liam Payne Slow Alle Farben x Rudimental Fading Cage the Elephant f/ Beck Night Running (starting a Beck resurgence this year) Syn Cole f/ Dakota Lights Go Down Pink f/ Khalid Hurts 2B Human Ellie Goulding x 99 Souls Sixteen (Remix) Sia Alive Scavenger Hunt f/ Paperwhite Ghosts Beyoncι Spirit Billie Eilish Bad Guy (one of Billie's many 30s this year - eventually surpassed by the much higher peak of Everything I Wanted - also yet to come) CocoRosie Lamb & the Wolf Da Candy f/ Ferry + Dev Make Out Afsheen f/ Rebecca Ferguson Uncrazy Kaskade f/ Cecilia Gault Love Me Like You Used To Galantis f/ Mr Probz + Dolly Parton Faith (one of many bizarre old-new collabs we saw in 2019) TRXD f/ Skaar Wherever You Go Jhene Aiko f/ Big Sean None of Your Concern (its been a pretty quiet year for Jhene - one of my absolute top favourite artists - following a stellar 2017 and 2018 consecutively. Here's hoping she comes back strong in 2020!) |

Hazy Shade of Winter was a fab cover, really got into that track earlier on in the year!
Giving Night Running a listen now, I think I could probably get into it with a few listens. And Faith was of course another great offering from Galantis, not quite up their with their best but still a very good and funky track. |

#37 Avril Lavigne Tell Me Its Over Meek Mill f/ Drake Going Bad Sigrid Dont Feel Like Crying Grace Carter Heal Me Billie Eilish You Should See Me in a Crown Little Mix f/ Ty Dolla $ign Think About Us (the girls had their most successful year ever for me in 2019 with two chart toppers and a slew of top tens - LM5 being for me their strongest work yet. Unfortunately, this didn't gel quite so well and the campaign overall was super messy) Hot Chip Hungry Child Vali Blows Martin Garrix f/ Patrick Stump + Macklemore Summer Days Kokiri Other Side of Love The Maine Broken Parts (the veteran rock/punk group also had a hugely successful 2019 for me, following the wave of other such groups I've been gradually getting more into including Deaf Havana and Nothing But Thieves. More from them higher up) Janelle Monae f/ Grimes Pynk Alexandra Stan f/ Inna + Daddy Yankee We Wanna (which finally charts this year after I changed my charts to relax a 2 years' recency rule. This recurs every summer so will probably be back in 2020 too!) Royce Tip Toe Bonnie McKee x Le Youth Thorns (Remix (one of several rediscoveries from Bonnie to chart this year after her fab turn on an Armin Van Buuren track which became one of my BJSC entries this year) Charli XCX Silver Cross (Charli's only solo turn this year - after a stellar success year for her too, building on her 2018 that saw her first chart topper for me - Focus) Lion Babe x Omniboi Western World (Remix) Tinashe f/ Ms Banks Die a Little Bit (Tinashe returned towards the end of the year free of her restrictive label and landed a few minor chart hits for me as a result - here's the first) Maroon 5 Memories Hybrid Minds f/ Tiffani Juno Touch LEON Hope is a Heartache |

I feel like Hungry Child has suddenly popped up in everyone's EOY charts Love it anyway, a really good comeback from them! Don't Feel Like Crying is a really good song from Sigrid also.

Avril Lavigne Tell Me Its Over Meek Mill feat. Drake Going Bad Billie Eilish You Should See Me in a Crown Hot Chip Hungry Child The taste jumped out! 'You Should See Me in a Crown' in particular is excellent, the Lorde song that never was |
