BeyGOOD was originally launched during the Mrs. Carter World Tour back in 2013 to help support those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Beyonce's hometown. Originally donations were put towards 'long-term revitalization and the purchase of essential goods such as cots, blankets, pillows, baby products, feminine products, wheelchairs, and more.' with BeyGOOD working with Bread of Life and Greater Houston Community Foundation. Beyonce also worked with local charities at the time to help fundraise and raise awareness for local causes during her tour.

As of late however the organisation's focus has shifted onto COVID-19 relief effort with BeyGOOD partnering with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and together providing $6 million to organisations providing services to essential workers during the crisis. BeyGOOD: “In our major cities, African-Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis,”. To assist its efforts, BeyGOOD has formed a national partnership with UCLA, which is offering a COVID-19 Care Package that “includes resources and tools designed to lift moods and ease anxiety and depression” during the pandemic. BeyGOOD is also partnering with the National Alliance in Mental Illness to offer local support in Houston, New York, New Orleans and Detroit. Additional support will go to local organizations like United Memorial Medical Center, Bread of Life, Matthew 25, Dia De La Mujer Latina and World Central iamspamspamami

And as part of BeyGood, Tina Knowles (Beyonce's mum for those who don't know) has launched the #IDidMyPart initiative which is 'encouraging Houston residents to get tested for COVID-19 in light of disproportionate deaths in African-American communities'. They have provided over 1,000 test kits, gloves, masks, essential vitamins, and household items with help from United Memorial Medical Center and have supported drive-up tests at local middle schools. 'Those getting tested will also get a grocery gift card from Texas chain H-E-B Grocery Company. Vouchers for hot meals from local restaurants Frenchy’s Chicken and Burns Original Bar-B-Q will be provided to both those being tested as well as medical staff administering the tests.'

"The virus is wreaking havoc on the black community so we need a movement to prioritize our health,” Knowles said in a statement. “We are all in this together. But we have to look at what is happening in our black and brown communities and how they are being decimated by COVID-19. It is critical that we stay vigilant with social-distancing, wearing a mask and most of all getting tested. If you don’t get tested then you don’t know if you are a carrier of the virus. Being asymptomatic is how you infect your entire household and those around you, the very people you love. We have got to go to these free testing facilities and find out our status.”

Beyonce has cumulatively contributed to over 37 different charities around the world: ranging from the American Foundation for AIDS Research, to Stand Up To Cancer, to Boys & Girls Clubs of America - which is also a part of her and Jay Z's scholarship program during the OTR2 tour which gave 11 students with '"academic excellence" and "financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or universit' across America over $1 million towards their education. Jay Z's Clara Lionel Foundation also holds an annual 'Diamond Ball' each September which to date has raised more than $14 million for multiple charities largely focused on Caribbean countries.

I always knew Beyonce & her family were key advocates for many charities but I had no idea the extent! I think you'd be hard pressed to find another celebrity couple with the impact that these two have had it's astonishing the amount of help they've given not only to their local communities but globally. I got a bit carried away with this post and dug up a lot of articles about Beyonce/Tina/Jay Z/BeyGood's donations and all I can say is wow *.*

Megan Thee Stallion's Savage Remix with Beyonce is also putting all profits towards COVID-19 relief, much as J Balvin & Willy Williams' Mi Gente Remix with Beyonce put profits towards hurricane relief in Houston!
