Sam Fischer and Demi Lovato
What Other People Say

2nd single from forthcoming studio album
Released: 4th February 2021
Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK / Island Records

Biography

Sam Fischer
For Australian singer/songwriter Sam Fischer, the greatest triumph of his early career was born out of his lowest ebb. Fischer was born in 1991 on a farm in Grose Vale, near Sydney, and as a boy he soaked up the sounds of his parents’ records, mostly Michael Jackson and the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. As he came of age, he developed enough talent to cross the ocean and attend Boston’s renowned Berklee College of Music. In 2014 Fischer moved to Los Angeles with the goal of getting a record deal. He spent a few years slogging it out, releasing singles and EPs that garnered scant attention, at one point resorting to sleeping in a friend’s car. But his 2018 song “This City”, which he’d written about the beating he was taking in the L.A. music scene, went viral on social media, eventually racking up astounding stats. The music bigwigs came calling, and Fischer had a deal with RCA, which reissued the song at the end of 2019. With its spare arrangement and bittersweet, soulful sound, “This City” became an international hit, putting Fischer on the path to fame. In 2020 RCA released his Homework EP, on which his supple, sensual blend of R&B and pop is sometimes framed by minimal electronics and sometimes presented with a full-band feel. And in the course of entering the spotlight, Fischer showed another side of his talent by contributing songs to an international range of artists, including Elle King, Keith Urban, Andy Grammer and Jessie J. - Apple Music

Demi Lovato
Demetria Devonne Lovato (/ləˈvɑːtoʊ/ lə-VAH-toh; born August 20, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and executive producer. After appearing on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004), she rose to prominence for her role as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel musical television film Camp Rock (2008) and its sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010). The former film's soundtrack included "This Is Me", Lovato's duet with Joe Jonas, which became a top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100.

After signing with Hollywood Records, Lovato released her pop rock debut album, Don't Forget (2008), which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Its follow-up, Here We Go Again (2009), debuted at number one in the US, while its title track peaked in the top 15 of the country. Lovato's third studio album, Unbroken (2011), experimented with pop and R&B. It spawned two singles: "Skyscraper", which peaked in the top ten of the US, and "Give Your Heart a Break", which became her first number-one single on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. Lovato's fourth studio album, Demi (2013), debuted with US sales of 110,000 copies, her highest first-week sales in the country. Its lead single, "Heart Attack", peaked in the top ten of the US, while also becoming her first top-three single on the UK Singles Chart. For her fifth and sixth studio albums, Confident (2015) and Tell Me You Love Me (2017), Lovato infused soul and focused on more mature content as opposed to her previous work. The former granted Lovato her first Grammy Award nomination, while the latter became her first album to be certified Platinum by the RIAA, and its lead single, "Sorry Not Sorry", became her highest-charting single in the US, reaching number six.

On television, Lovato starred as the titular character on Sonny with a Chance (2009–2011), served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor USA in its second and third seasons, and appeared as a recurring character on Glee. Her struggles with personal issues received significant media attention in the 2010s, in response to which she published a book, Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year (2013), and released YouTube documentaries about her life and career, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated (2017) and Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil (2021).

As of 2017, Lovato has sold over two million albums and 20 million singles in the United States, according to Billboard. She has received numerous accolades, including an MTV Video Music Award, 14 Teen Choice Awards, five People's Choice Awards, and two Latin American Music Awards. She also holds one Guinness World Record and was also included on the Time 100 annual list in 2017. Outside of the entertainment industry, Lovato is an activist for several social causes.

Jonas Blue and AWA
Something Stupid

Non-album single
Released: 5th February 2021
Label: Positiva / EMI

Biography

Jonas Blue
A London-based DJ and producer who’s delivered a steady stream of hit tracks and remixes since the mid-2010s, Jonas Blue knows how to give a dance floor all the joy and energy it needs. Yet he leaves room for some wistful feelings out there in the dark, too. The best proof of that is his thrilling yet poignant revamp of Tracy Chapman’s folk-pop classic “Fast Car”, a collaboration with singer Dakota that became a worldwide hit in 2015. The club and radio favourite also propelled Blue—born Jonas James Robin in Chelmsford in 1989—into the top tier of the dance-music world. On hits like 2017’s “Mama” (with William Singe) and his 2018 debut album Blue, the busy producer developed a signature style of pop, tropical house and EDM that was reliably light and summery yet also contained the emotional undercurrents that made his update of “Fast Car” so surprising and special. They’re certainly present in “Younger”, a 2019 single full of nostalgic feelings for times long past. As Blue told Apple Music, exploring some of those deeper sentiments while giving them a positive spin is “what my music’s all about.” - Apple Music

AWA
Growing up in Stockholm, Awa Santesson-Sey, like all good future popstars, loved to entertain. While it wasn’t a hugely musical family, there were definite examples of performing in her blood. An early sign of that ingrained determination arrived early, at age 12. Deciding she wanted to study classical music, she applied for the prestigious Adolf Fredrik’s Music School not once, not twice, but three times. The first time they said ‘no’, the second she was placed on a waiting and the third she got in!

AWA then saw an advert on TV for the soon-to-start X Factor. She passed the first audition (singing You Can’t Hurry Love by The Supremes), then the next, dominated the live shows and eventually won the whole thing aged just 15! A tour was followed by a single and a record contract, but something wasn’t right. The workload was oppressive, with bouts of exhaustion eventually followed by AWA taking a break from music and enrolling in college to study Economic Entrepreneurship. In-between she started to use her platform in other ways, becoming an ‘influencer’ (“I hate that word,” she sighs) using the money she earned to fund writing trips to LA and London.

Having taken the mature decision not to rush her early success and instead wait until the time was right and she could be fully in charge, renewal is something AWA knows a lot about. She eventually made the decision to leave Stockholm and move to London permanently and started throwing herself into more sessions with the likes of Ebenezer (Stefflon Don, Duke Dumont), Aston Rudi (Mahalia, Anaïs) and Show N Prove (Ann-Marie, Tinie Tempah). “Something clicked and I got into rooms with people who just understood me,” Awa says. One of the first sessions she did with Ebenezer resulted in s ‘F**kin’ Love Songs’ ,which together with four more tracks will make up AWA’s debut 5 track EP which will be released early 2020 on Columbia Records.

AWA’s resilience and determination have finally paid off. 2019 is just the beginning for this raw talent, whose powerful voice and sharp songwriting will surely make her one to watch this year.

Biography

In a 2019 interview with Apple Music, Harry Styles shared a memory from the early days of One Direction. They were in the studio in Sweden working on “What Makes You Beautiful”. First single, the rollercoaster train just starting to climb the track. Someone comes into the room and says there are a couple of girls outside. Why? the band asks. They’re looking for you guys. For One Direction. “And we’re all just like, ‘But we’re in Sweden!’”

Ah, the old, “who…us?” routine. Harry! Incorrigibly charming, dreamboat for starry-eyed youth the world over. And, as it turns out, a legitimate force in pop, the kind of artist who could bridge contemporary appeal with classic values in ways that felt fresh but familiar, universal.

Part of what had made One Direction so great was that they never shied away from the pleasures of boy-band pop, but never patronised their audiences or fell back on gimmicks, either: Never mind the no-dancing policy; they were writing songs, exploring music as something beyond the show. In his solo career, Styles (born 1994, in Redditch, England) has done much the same, combining soul (“Watermelon Sugar”), confessional soft rock (“Sign of the Times”) and psychedelia (“Sunflower, Vol. 6”) with a modern touch, summarising where pop has been while also pushing it forward. “I’m just trying to go through life being a little less worried about stuff,” he said. “Definitely with working. Because ultimately, it’ll be okay.” He had a busy five years there. But he’s got a lifetime ahead of him.
