Taking the most notable new releases of the week I have shortlisted the potentials for Buzzjack's TOTW. Simply vote for your favourites and the song with the most votes will be the official BJ:TOTW winner! In the event of a double release/album by an artist, I'll choose the one that's been pushed on Spotify's New Music Friday UK playlist/higher on iTunes etc. "new versions" are not included. The contenders: Aston Merrygold - Hundreds and Thousands Baby Queen - These Drugs Ben Howard - Far Out Digga D - Bluuwuu Jade Bird - Open Up the heavens Jendrik - I Don't Feel Hate Joel Corry, RAYE & David Guetta - BED Lesley Roy - Maps Maisie Peters - John Hughes Movie Majestic & Boney M. - Rasputin Martin Jensen & Georgia Ku - 2019 Nick Jonas - Spaceman Pop Smoke - AP Post Malone - Only Wanna Be With You (Pokémon 25 Version) Sondr & Samantha Harvey - Company Wilkinson - Frontline Wolf Alice - The Last Man on Earth Zara Larsson - Look What You've Done ~ Track of the Week 2019 Archive Week 1: Justin Bieber - Anyone [18 votes, 17.82%] Week 2: Olivia Rodrigo - drivers license [20 votes, 11.70%] Week 3: Anne-Marie, KSI & Digital Farm Animals - Don't Play [22 votes, 17.32%] Week 4: Nathan Evans - Wellerman (220 KID x Billen Ted Remix) [19 votes, 14.29%] Week 5: Rag'n'Bone Man - All You Ever Wanted [18 votes, 12.77%] Week 6: Martin Garrix (feat. Tove Lo) - Pressure [20 votes, 14.29%] Week 7: Dua Lipa - We're Good [29 votes, 24.17%] Week 8: Ella Henderson & Tom Grennan - Let's Go Home Together [19 votes, 13.67%] You can vote for more than one song! |

It doesn't sit right with me that the new Joel Corry track will end up beating Wolf Alice. Yes, it's a nice dance track but it's not exactly groundbreaking. The Last Man on Earth, on the other hand, is so exquisite in it's lyrics and production that it blows all of the other new releases out of the water. It's a shame these polls are skewed so heavily to pop/dance; it would be great to see an alternative track get the top spot every once in while.
I know I might sound a bit pretentious, but it would nice if a genuinely well constructed and poignant song wasn't beaten by a so-so dance track by a few big names and a house cover of song released in 1978. This post has been edited by roz061: Feb 28 2021, 02:18 PM |

Think the would be asking for too much on BJ, an ex Saturday would probably beat a track of the year in this poll |

Think the would be asking for too much on BJ, an ex Saturday would probably beat a track of the year in this poll Is that the reason how Rag N Bone Man and Nathan Evans beat the likes of BuzzJaxk faves Selena Gomez and Billie Eilish?! Stop with this tired narrative |

I suppose I let my opinion get in the way of people subjective views to art Without opinions though this site would be nothing I guess 😜 Maybe we should let this one go. Some battles aren't worth fighting This post has been edited by roz061: Mar 1 2021, 01:22 PM |
