Wellerman's 8 weeks on the C-list is now a record, at least in the 9 years I've been maintaining the playlist. The question is, with it going to number one today, will they be pressured into moving it up to the B-list next week?
No Ella/Tom is frustrating but I'm still holding out hope it'll come next week, especially since it's not leaving the charts any time soon. Was also hoping to see the new Alfie Templeman on the playlist but hopefully that'll come next week too. |

Wellerman is not doing so much better than before in streams and sales, the competition is now very light. I don't see that #1 position alone guarantees better playlist position because it is playlisted in the first place.

Loving the adds for Jodie and London Grammar; I reckon LG will move up to the A list in the coming weeks. Lots of nice additions to the B list, too. It will be nice to hear Fred Again, Mahalia and Paul Woolford during the day. As someone who listens to R1 regularly, I've noticed that the C list tracks barely get any plays (they get around one play per day) and they only really enter the public consciousness from the B list onwards (I base this off speaking to my sister who listens to the radio but not much else
 )

Most long-running Top 3 hits were either supported by R1 earlier on, in the case of Hips Don't Lie and Moves Like Jagger, not playlisted at all. |
