Uhsting's Top 50 More graphical version of my chart can be found on Crownnote: http://crownnote.com/charts/uhsting/uhstin...op-50-songs-100 Chart commentary: This week is probably one of the most active in terms of the number of new entries -- a whopping 20 made their way to the top 50 this week! The highest entry is Bebe Rexha's newest single and ballad Sabotage. Coincidentally, another new entry named Sabotage made their way to the top 50 as well, sang by Lxandra in 21, also another ballad. While it seems to be another ballad week, we have some bangers with Tschau and Lightning Strike making their way to top 20 as new entries. German pop idol winner Jan-Marten Block had an uplifting song with Never Not Try also in the top 50. Wrapping up the top 50 includes other new entries but Cold made their entry after bubbling under top 50 last week. Meanwhile, Future Funeral jumped to the top spot after debutting at no. 2 last week. Karma followed close behind at no. 2 while Summer Don't Go bounced back to top 5. Walking On Glass dived into top 10 with 15 positions worth of jump, while Vertigo is the song with the highest jump, from no. 50 to no. 22. Promis3 – Future Funeral Debutted at no. 2 last week, this quickly became my favourite song recently. The melancholic feeling in this song is well-supported by a memorable and catchy beat. The instrumentation is interesting as well, and that drop is everything! Chart history: 2-1 2. Shalisa – Karma This blew up way more than I imagined. It is sung in Dutch but this song is really catchy and don't be fooled by the short length of this song -- it packs the entire typical ABABCB structure in. I think the briefness of this song makes this song an interesting listening experience and could really challenge for the top spot next week. Shalisa represented the Netherlands in Junior Eurovision back in 2015. Chart history: 30-12-9-2 3. Gjon’s Tears – Tout l’univers Gjon's Tears has his 6th week at top 5. This should be the entry with the highest number of weeks in top 5. The chorus still grabs me with its beautiful melody and I'm surprised it has stayed in my favourites for quite some time. Chart history: 4-3-2-1-3-3 4. Noirêve ft. Giulia Foddai - Summer Don't Go Written and produced by Noirêve, Summer Don't Go is back in the top 5 with soulful vocals from Giulia Foddai. The mood is what stands out the most in my opinion for this song and can this song further go up next week? Chart history: 10-3-7-10-4 5. Kyns – I can never be This heart-wrenching song drops slightly to no. 5 but still is an emotional piece with the instrumentation. The feeling of unworthiness can be quite daunting at times and I'm glad this song has delivered this message very well with both the lyrics and instrumentation. Chart history: 26-18-21-11-8-4-5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. salem ilese – (L)only Child (39-15-10-5-6) (L)only Child drops after 3 weeks of rising motion but just only a tiny little bit. The hook still gets me all the time! 7. Lil Nas X – MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) (47-13-1-7) Rocketed its way up to no. 1 last week, this song fell to no. 7. It is a rarity you see rap and hip-hop songs in my chart but this is an exception here. I like the extended version more with the oriental-sounding of the instrument in the bridge (MIDI strings??) and also take a look at TwoSetViolin's reaction to this song as well, very hilarious coming from a classical musician perspective! 8. Bebe Rexha – Sabotage (8) A pleasant surprise by Bebe Rexha actually with a terrific ballad here, this song became the highest charted new entry this week. I didn't expect this to start really high but the melody is moving and grabs my attention. Happy to hear it from a rather popular artist! 9. Caroline Culver – Walking On Glass (34-24-9) No video for this beautiful song however but that doesn't matter! I really like how the tension is released at the chorus of the song which makes it full. It progresses slowly too. 10. Primo – Do It Again (27-32-20-11-6-10) Do It Again almost broke into top 5 but it didn't quite happen as this song dropped to the edge of top 10. This is still quite catchy and I think it could stay in the top 50 for a while. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11. Andrea Di Giovanni – Crown (32-26-11) 12. Destiny – Je me casse (14-5-5-7-12) 13. Daughtry – Heavy Is The Crown (25-20-13) 14. Charles – He Knows (11-9-4-11-14) 15. Loi – I Follow (33-22-15) 16. Max Richter, Mari Samuelsen, Robert Ziegler – Follower (17-6-6-6-14-16) 17. Zayde Wølf – Holy Water (32-17) This gets a big jump with an energetic chorus, typical of Zayde Wølf's songs. 18. Knappe – Tschau (18) Catchy music and love to hear that it is sung in German as well! 19. Escape the Fate – Lightning Strike (19) 20. LANKS – The Silence (22-14-9-6-2-1-2-13-20) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21. Lxandra – Sabotage (21) 22. Alice Merton – Vertigo (50-22) Alice Merton never ceases to amaze with catchy and unique-sounding songs, and this shot way up to no. 22, becoming the song with the biggest jump. 23. Motez ft. The Kite String Tangle – Give Me Space (37-30-38-23) 24. SYML – DIM (24) 25. Sondag Sondag – Torsdag (48-25) 26. Mariya Chaykovskaya – Лодочка (26) Beautiful stripped back sung in Ukrainian, I'm glad I stumbled upon this song in my NMF playlist! 27. Jan-Marten Block – Never Not Try (27) 28. Jaguar Jonze – TESSELLATIONS (28) 29. Orjan Nilsen – Hold Me (29) 30. LP – One Last Time (44-33-21-34-30) 31. Hana Oceans – Austers (19-15-12-18-16-31) 32. Ilse DeLange – I Will Help You (31-38-23-32) 33. Tessa Violet, lovelytheband – Games (33) 34. Tayler Buono – IFHU (35-20-15-34) 35. Nohanna – Aidinaidin raivolla (21-35) 36. Baby Queen – Dover Beach (36) 37. Imagine Dragons – Follow You (44-37) 38. ILON – tobacco (38) 39. Feder, UPSAHL – Let There Be Drums (39) Very catchy song it is with UPSAHL's captivating vocals! The hook is everything in this song. 40. Keni – Proximity (40) 41. Loney Dear – Mute / All things pass (23-18-41) 42. Neoni – Where We Rise (42) 43. Tommy Fredvang – Ett sekund (43) 44. Hi, uhsting! Nice to see Orjan Nilsen on top 30. Overall, great chart! Orjan Nilsen's new song is probably the best song by him to date actually It is very catchy and it doesn't need a bridge and a third chorus, so melodically it is very memorable too! Glad you liked this week! Hiii Oops at Lonely Child just slipping out the top 5. Hi James! You'll never know if (L)only Child will reclaim the spot Watch! |

Hey uhsting!
Sad at the drop for MONTERO but I'm glad it got to #1 for you. Sabotage is lush, Bebe is criminally underrated. |

Very surprised to know Bebe is very strong with ballads too and Sabotage hits the right notes for me. MONTERO stands out from the rest of the rap/hip-hop and deserves to achieve such a high position for my chart. Thanks for the comment! |

I don't think I could cope with 20 new entries in my Top 50 Gave your #1 a listen anyway, certainly an interesting pick! Had a little bit of everything in it. Beyond that there are lots of songs I need to listen to (something people usually say about my chart ), hope Luz can pick up here in the coming weeks though!

I hope it will get the appeal to different people soon and you sure need to catch up with the songs in my chart Luz is doing great so I think she will gain height in the next few weeks. Hi Uhsting, Gjon´s tears still Top 3. Bebe Rexha entering in the Top 10 Primo and Lil Nas X and Mimi Webb dropping already Dotan in the bubbling under Hi Sven! Tout l'univers is probably one of my most favourite Eurovision songs for quite a while. Stunning instrumentation with beautiful melody it is! I hope this will win the entire thing. Bebe Rexha is good on ballads too and Sabotage truly deserves to be there. Thanks all for the comments! |
