A very talented individual whose previous single release got a few tongues wagging online, Chris Hornsby is back this month with new EP 'Human, Too Human'. With a folk sound based on earthy, live recording techniques and telling real life tales, it's a release which has a really fresh, interesting feel.
The production is bright, with the songs sounding as sharp as they might live. However, these songs are unlikely to ever been heard live in these forms, as all instruments - 15 in total - on the EP are played by Hornsby himself.
In the wrong hands, this could be seen as showing off, but in this case it just gives the sense that the songwriter had a very clear idea of what he wanted from each part, and crafted the EP to fit around his particular set of skills.
So, if bright, individual folk is your cup of tea, Chris Hornsby could be a great new discovery for you. You can hear EP track 'Without You' at the URL below, with the EP to follow on May 22nd.
