Rachel Alice Johnson: Lights On
Reviewed by Urbanfairy on 16 Mar 2017
If there’s one phrase I could use to sum up Rachel Alice Johnson’s new EP, it wold be that she comes across as a Scottish Lana Del Rey with muddy fingernails. Simultanously filthy, beautific, dirty and ethereal, new single ‘Lights On’ screams sex.

And it’s all by design. ‘Lights On’ is just the appetiser, acting as the opening salvo for new EP ‘2am’. It’s a release which expands and improves on the themes as it goes on, and shows that Rachel Alice Johnson certainly has a knack for ear catching lyrics. Add to this a smart, sparse use of instrumentation and it’s a great introduction to an intriguing musician.

Out now.
