Space Elevator: Space Elevator LP
Reviewed by Urbanfairy on 29 Jan 2014
Borne of the same DNA as Black Sabbath, White Snake, The Who, Rock of Ages and We Will Rock You (from which/whom they have also gained band members), Space Elevator are a rock band who are great fun. Inspired by the glamorous days of 80s rock (not to be confused with Glam Rock...), the band's debut, self-titled album is a great introduction to their sound, positioning them as real rockers with a penchant for lyrics, melody and feel as well as the prerequisite electric power chords.

Take, for example, the shimmering opening to 'Little White Lies' which then gives way to balls out rock, replete with tight harmonies and some great guitar lines. Compare that to the flowing balladry of 'I Will Find You', and you have a band who have real range, making their decades old genre favourite sound original and fresh. No mean feat.
