Daryl Kellie: Would
Reviewed by Urbanfairy on 6 February 2014
On the first listen to Daryl Kellie’s “Would”, it sounds kind of like Newton Faulkner.

It uses simple instruments and a single male vocal backed up by some fantastic song writing.

This song is raw- the production really suits it in my opinion. It feels very real, full of a lot of interesting textures and timbres. The ‘snares off’ drum sound and non-standardised groove (apart from the chorus), the movement in the bass line and the pots and pan percussive sounds give the piece a really supernatural fairy woodland feel which, combined with the slightly sorrowful melody is very pleasant.

I would not say this song is depressing, more thought provoking. It is very good and very well written.

The thing that really makes this track for me is the vocals, they are soft, breathy and have a power behind them all at the same time.

This is a great song and I can't wait to hear more from this guy!
