Coldplay have risen to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 with new track Viva La Vida.
(BuzzJack.com) - After peaking at 8 in 2005 on the Hot 100 with Speed Of Sound, Coldplay have acheived their first ever US #1 single.
Viva La Vida, which is on course to be a trans-atlantic chart topper on Sunday, has risen a place to knock Lil Wayne off the top of the Billboard chart. The band look set to shoot to the top of the US albums chart next week too as Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is projected to sell over 700,000 copies after release last Monday.
Coldplay are the second UK act to score a Hot 100 chart topper this year so far, after Leona Lewis spent a broken 4 weeks at the top. Natasha Bedingfield has also risen to 6 this week to give 3 British acts in the American singles chart.
