Exciting.
Haiti benefit single 'Everybody Hurts' (a cover of the 1992 REM song) gets its release this week, featuring many artists under the Helping Haiti moniker. Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, Take That and many more feature on the song, which proceeds go towards the Haiti earthquake fund. Elsewhere, Swedish singer Erik Hassle releases his debut UK single 'Hurtful' and Calvin Harris releases his fourth solo single from his second record 'Ready For The Weekend' titled 'You Used to Hold Me'. Miike Snow, You Me At Six and Late of The Pier all release limited edition singles this week.
On the album front, Bristol band Massive Attack release their 5th studio album, and first since 2003, titled 'Heligoland'. The album has received mixed reviews so far in the mainstream press, and will have a lot to do if it can match the chart success that their previous two records garnered. This week also brings the release of the acclaimed second Yeasayer record 'Odd Blood', the Brooklyn band's second album following 2007's 'All Hour Cymbals'. Other releases this week include a hits collection from The Who and a covers collection from UB40, and the annual Brit Awards album.
