Throwback: Thinking Of You
This has been going a bit viral recently on TikTok which has been translating into its best streaming days yet. +187.5k streams on spotify for 29/4 (was below 100k a few days or so ago). I really like this so would be here for it going viral/increasing more! *_*

That doesn't explain the AWFUL choreo with a palstic lightsaber. It's a naff concept anyway, and then to play a trsck whilst she runs around with that and does low energy fighting... The vocals have been ropey, too. I wouldn't want ro oay to see her do that. I'd wsnt a stripped back concert, with live vocals, no running around and pretending ro fight aliens.

The AI critique is a bit interesting, considering she starts with a song called Artificial... but people (mis)understand it as hollowness because that what she's been serving recently.

Why is that such an issue though? the videos of the 'dodgy dancing' are literally the smallest moments where she lets loose and just has fun in the moment when she's not in character for the storyline that the show follows throughout. Katy's always done this, it's not new. People are just deciding it's wrong now to desperately try and add to the endless list of reasons why she's the worst person in the world.

Have you not seen the videos of her doing dodgy school disco moves to Part of Me, or running aeound on stage with a lightsaber? I really think she's killed her career. Bad single choices started it all, and now it feels like she doesn't know what Katy Perry the artist dtands for anymore.

She's getting rinsed because people would rather blindly hate on her than actually step back and think about what they're saying, it's so tiresome. Every single complaint about the tour (from people who haven't even been, might I add, who are simply just sitting offering their uninformed opinions on Twitter etc) has been debunked by people who have actually been. I hope she keeps her head held high because the videos I've seen actually make me quite sad I didn't end up getting tickets. It definitely looks like her most conceptual, energetic tour to date with lots of visual treats and stunts that fit the theme perfectly and the setlist makes a lot more sense too.

She's getting absolutely RINSED today over the tour. The choreo is as low energy and lacking as much passion as RTD's Doctor Who killer seasons  It's really bad.

The vocals for me are what I can’t get my head around. She’s never been a vocalist but the Rise clip that’s going around is genuinely appalling and she didn’t sound much better on ET or Roar either. Let’s see how the tour progresses and if it was more just night one nerves.

I wasn't sure whether to go or not but after seeing some clips it doesn't look great. I saw her at Capital Jingle Bell Ball and she was SO much better, hopefully she gets more enthusiastic as the tour goes on it really felt like she was just going through it to get it done rather than loving what she was doing at least from the clips.

Would've been so on-brand to keep it but happy she did not.

Unrelated to the UK shows here but didn’t want to create a new thread. The Tour kicked off last night! Just had a look at some videos going around X of it! Some questionable vocals for sure…!

Ignoring any of the controversy around the space thing, Firework as an encore again is tedious. It worked brilliantly for the Prismatic Tour and was a real moment. Then she tried to replicate it with the same stunts landing on the exact same beats for the Witness Tour, and now this. Girl...

Just where does she go from here at this point. Everything she touches lately is seemingly just turning to s***. It does feel quite pile on as much as a lot of it’s her own doing. Nervous to see what awaits for the tour because I can only imagine people are waiting for that to fail / find the flaws etc. After the tours wrapped up though I can’t call at the moment what exactly she can do and where she goes from here. It’s a very obscure one! I think her general public popularity has went down more with the space story than it did the Dr Luke thing though (yet at the same time It’s seemingly only Katy who’s getting it and not anyone else who was on board).

On paper, this was probably seen as an interesting opportunity and a nice publicity stunt, but it turned out completely wrong. The timing: bunch of women spending 11 minutes in space for PR when USA is in catastrophic state politically and economically just.. doesn't land well. Her antics around this. Like what are you thinking? Revealing (kinda, nobody was able to read them anyway) your TOUR SETLIST... sure The female empowement message. There are several REAL female astronauts and scientists out there. You are Katy Perry, a pop star with desperate need of hit at this point. Pitchfork put it so well: https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/katy-perry-space/

It's all very cringey. Also, not including Never Really Over on the tour setlist is criminal, the one saving grace of the last couple of eras.

"Firework" is now certified 4x Platinum for 2.4 million units.- Katy Perry working with Dr Luke on new era
Katy Perry’s A&R Claims He’s to Blame for Singer’s Work With Dr. Luke on ‘143’ Fans of Katy Perry might now have someone to point fingers to for her recent work with Dr. Luke. In a recent The Manager’s Playbook interview, the singer’s A&R manager Chris Anokute said that it was his “desire” to reconnect Perry with the disgraced producer for her album 143. “I think there was some backlash on her reuniting with Dr. Luke, which was my desire,” Anokute claimed. (Skip to 1:30:00 into the video below.) “[It was] my recommendation for her to get back into the studio with Luke because Luke is a dear friend.” “I thought it was a good time to reunite them after 10 years of not working together,” he continued. “Every single he’s ever done with her has gone Number One. The press just didn’t react favorably and they tried to assassinate him and her.” When Rolling Stone reached out for comment via Instagram, Anokute wrote back, “You must be bored. God bless you.” The backlash to the singer’s reconnection with Luke on the album came quickly after Rolling Stone confirmed last summer that Perry worked with Max Martin, Dr. Luke, and several others for the album following the release of single “Woman’s World.” At the time, a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone that “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen.” Music fans, especially those on X, have long expressed their dislike for Luke given the sex abuse allegation from Kesha years prior, even following the settlement of his defamation lawsuit in 2023. In the new interview, Anokute claimed to believe that “all the stuff he was accused of is actually not true,” seemingly in reference to the Kesha allegation. Years before 143, Luke and Martin worked on many of Perry’s biggest hits, including smashes from her first three albums like One of the Boys‘ “I Kissed a Girl,” Teenage Dream‘s title track, “Last Friday Night,” “California Gurls,” “E.T.,” and “The One That Got Away” along with the vast majority of Prism, including “Dark Horse,” “Unconditionally,” and “Roar.” Despite the success of Perry’s previous work with Luke, 143 was poorly received by many fans and most critics. Anokute also said he believed 143 had “massive hits” despite the negative reaction. A Rolling Stone review called the record a “failed attempt to rekindle her glory years.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/katy-perry-dr-luke-album-ar-manager-blame-1235305370/ - UK Chart Runs & Sales
