Posted June 29, 200619 yr Maneater retains lead on download chart Source: Music week Nelly Furtado's Maneater (Geffen) shows no signs of relinquishing its popularity on the download chart and continues to lead the pack. The track, which is taken from the Canadian singer's third album Loose, has a clear lead ahead of Shakira's Hips Don't Lie (Sony BMG), which climbs from six to two this week. While Sandi Thom, The Automatic and Rihanna continue to hover in the Top 10, Pussycat Dolls enter the top eschelon with Buttons (A&M) for the first time, as do The Kooks (Virgin) with She Moves In Her Own Way and Black Eyed Peas featuring Sergio Mendes with Mas Que Nada (A&M). Muse have made one of the biggest leaps on the chart, despite narrowly missing out on a Top 10 placing. The band's debut single from forthcoming album Black Holes And Revelations, Supermassive Black Hole (A&E), ascends 18 places from 29-11. Lostprophets make a similar impact with Rooftops (Visible Noise) which climbs from 26-13 this week. The band's album Liberation Transmission is expected to debut at number one on the albums chart this weekend. Christina Aguilera is the only new entry in the Top 20, arriving at 14 with Ain't No Other Man (Sony BMG).

Is it good news though - if it sells too many this far before its release date, that'll possibly affect it's eventual chart position once it becomes eligible.
June 30, 200619 yr Author Is it good news though - if it sells too many this far before its release date, that'll possibly affect it's eventual chart position once it becomes eligible. Download sales will only be counted in its initial pre-release week, and get added on, when the physical format is released a week later, I think it has a good chance of going to No.1 in its pre-release week, hopefully the download sales that has acquired already won't affect it that much.
June 30, 200619 yr I don't think download sales can be certain of how successful a song's going to be really,Will entered the official download chart at no9 with Switch It On nearly 7 weeks before the release date, his chart run was pretty erratic though
