September 27, 200915 yr Author Mmmmm...Damien Rice  Wondering what will Gary sing? From his solo times or from TT songs? I should imagine it's only going to be one song per artist - so I'd assume Gary would just sing BFG. It is a combined music / comedy show so no-one will be doing a long set. I'd love to go to this ... I love lots of the comics involved ... alas ... London gets the pick of everything when something like this comes around. I'm sick to death of it! No reason they couldn't have done this in Manchester or Birmingham. Norma
September 27, 200915 yr Id love gary to sing yesterdays girl or lie to me but more than likely it will be back for good. As i mention this remember some months back there was talk of gary re issueing his solo albums, has anyone heard anything more on this???

As i mention this remember some months back there was talk of gary re issueing his solo albums, has anyone heard anything more on this??? Gary would no more re-issue his old albums than cut his own foot off! That was just more media lies. Why re-issue ... if they were a flop the first time (which they were) why would they chart a second time. From Gary's book ... the one thing he isn't is stupid. No way would he want to face that again. Take That are a winning formula and they all know that. Solo - there was only one ego that could make it. Norma
September 27, 200915 yr I dont agree that open road was a flop, as it wasnt but 12 months 11 days was a flop. Sometimes albums are re issued just for fans and not aimed for the charts, im one gary one who who love his solo album to get a deluxe style re release as he often said he had so many songs left over from those albums, and me being a huge fan of his solo work would love to hear some of those tracks that missed making the final albums. Kylie did this with her commercial flop album impossible princess she re issued it with extras and although it didnt add alot to sales the fans loved it, so from that point of view gary could do it without it being seen as him re launching his solo career. I agree with you when you say gary isnt stupid and i also think we will never get another solo gary album and i dont blame him for that after the hell he went and was put through the last time, to this day i will still say 12 months 11 days was a brilliant album that deserved so so much more.
September 28, 200915 yr I believe that Gary will do in future something solo. I cannot see him just staying behind closed doors when TT-project will be shelved. He likes the attention he gets, he has also his charity projects, he has now a lot of respect from the other artists, he is once again more than sure of himself, so i am more than sure that if anyone of TT would do something musical after TT, Gary would be the one. And i am sure he would have success.

And i am sure he would have success. Iris if you read the interview they gave in Q last time ... you'll see that he has no intention of going solo (as a singer). He will undoubtedly go on writing and producing and signing to his label (and I wouldn't put an attempt at acting or presenting a show out of the question) but he will not do anything solo as a singer - and he certainly won't release old albums. The only person I can see going solo as a performer after TT ends is Mark (I think Mark would probably have more success than Gary). Norma
September 28, 200915 yr LOL, Mark more success than Gary :teresa: ? Neeehhh, even back in times Gary was more successful. Mark is still unaccepted and nobody knows from the music industry , beginning with artists and ending with music critics, that he can wrote a song and he wrote in TT (he got better critics in Germany as in UK for his solo work, for the matter  ). I think Gary would have more success as a singer, as his songs need his voice and Mark as a songwriter, as the most people don't like his voice but might accept his songs sung by someone else. But as nobody recognize him as a songwriter, i can scrap this too :arrr:. I believe that Gary will go solo. He is the only one asked from TT if he will go solo again, so i presume he gives a diplomatic answers every time, to don't look like "i expect now the best moment to go away" . Perhaps not as intensive as now in TT, i don't know if he will have fun to do promotion and to tour alone.
September 28, 200915 yr Mark will continu eto release solo material on his own label as its something he loves and its probably like a hobby now as he knows his solo music wont sell in huge volumes but he has a passion for his solo work and i think he is currently woking on a new solo album. Gary would completly shock me if he did a solo album again, personnaly and for selfish reasons i would love more solo gary work but i cant see him going down that road again, i think gary will continue writing songs for other acts and i can see him really concentrating on the music acts he has signed to his label, i can really see gary focusing and making his own label a sucess while at the same tim ehe can wait behind the scenes. Howard will go back to being a dj as again he loves that and is happy doing it and jason well could end up anywhere.

Howard will go back to being a dj as again he loves that and is happy doing it and jason well could end up anywhere. There's one reason why I honestly believe Gary wouldn't go solo again ... in his book he said he hated the solo touring ... it was lonely. Plus ... he really did have an awful time ... with the Clive Davis incident! I know what he means by its fun to dine out on the stories he's accumulated through his experiences ... but I doubt he'd want to go through it all again. Besides ... it has to be said ... he has the vocal skills and the skills of an excellent keyboard player and very good songwriter ... but he just doesn't have the 'personality' that is required. Don't get me wrong ... if he did do anything solo - I'd go along because I do think he's bloody funny (I guess I'm on the same wavelength - I like the laid-back, John Lennonish humour rather than the Norman Wisdom humour - found in another solo performer) and highly entertaining but he doesn't have the 'X' Factor I suppose when it comes to a wider audience. I think Mark has, and that is why, although he's not quite as good a musician as Gary ... he'd have more success - plus I think Mark has more of an individual 'fan' following. I really wouldn't be surprised though, if in a year or so's time ... when Take That do split (and the end does have to come) Gary may end up playing keyboards for another major act. Although if I'm honest ... I really want Gary to turn his hand to acting again. I can imagine him playing Lee Boardman's brother in a Jimmy McGovern / Alan Bleasdale sort of drama. Norma
September 28, 200915 yr Mark seems to have and had a very limited fan base for his solo work, when they splitthe first time i was positive mark would have had a number 1 single and a reasonably successful album and i was shocked child didnt make number 1 and even more shocked when it didnt go top 2 but the album completly surprised me by how it under performed, green ha sonly sold in ar around 100,000 copies as far as i know and alot of promo went into it. I can never see mark having a huge solo career, alot of the fans fancy him but they dont buy his music, i like alot of marks solo material but each album has done worse than the previous so i cant see any major success coming, 12 months 11 days by gary was and is seen a huge huge flop but i think i read it has sold 57,000 so it did bette rthan i thought as at that stage gary was getting absolutly punished by the press. Open road proved there is interest in gary as a solo artist and i think the difference now for gary if he did go solo is he learned very hard from previous mistakes and as he sid himself when take that split and he went solo he was convinced he would just have all the take that fans and they would follow his solo career and support him and maybe he took that for granted and it back fired. If and a very big big if he went solo this time he knows he would have to up his game and not take any of the take that fans for granted. If someone offered gary a huge solo deal when take that split i for one wouldnt 100% bet he would turn it down.
November 3, 200915 yr Author Review of Concert For CARE at the Brixton Academy, last night. http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/fromthefie...dde3a736c12.htm Concert For CAREos audience filled Londonos Brixton Academy as top class acts performed to raise funds for CARE International. 03 Nov 2009 17:01:32 GMT Source: CARE International - UK Reuters and AlertNet are not responsible for the content of this article or for any external internet sites. The views expressed are the author's alone. The proceeds from the event will support CARE International’s work helping some of the world’s poorest people. The evening began with a compelling introduction from David Arnold, one of Britain’s most successful film and television composers and ambassador for CARE International (CARE). David spoke about his experiences visiting CARE projects in Rwanda supporting children affected by HIV. CARE works in 70 countries and helps 55 million people to find ways out of poverty each year. Concert organiser David said: “I have wanted to do this concert from the day I met a 20 year old woman in Rwanda who was orphaned at 14, is HIV positive and has to look after her two younger brothers. Without CARE’s support she would be unable to keep them in school, feed them or keep a roof over their heads. I have asked my colleagues from the music and comedy world to get together to help raise money and awareness of the amazing work CARE does all over the world.” Some of Britain’s most popular musicians and comedians performed for the one off event at London’s Brixton Academy including: Gary Barlow, David Arnold, Kaiser Chiefs, David Walliams, Speech Debelle, Rob Brydon, Dara O’ Briain, Damian Rice, Mark Ronson, James Corden, Beth Rowley, Badly Drawn Boy, James Dean Bradfield and surprise performances from Simon le Bon and Daniel Merriweather. Some of the highlights of the evening included Gary Barlow’s rousing performance, Damien Rice’s acoustic version of Cannonball which silenced the audience, and a comedy double act from Dara O’ Briain and Rob Brydon. CARE International’s Chief Executive Geoffrey Dennis said: “We are so grateful to all of the artists involved, especially to David Arnold for organising the event. It was a wonderful evening and the proceeds from the concert will support CARE’s vital work helping vulnerable people around the world.” For more information on Concert For CARE or about CARE International, please contact the press office on 0207 934 9334 Or check out the website: www.careinternational.org.uk Gary did four songs - one of them is on youtube so I'll try and dig it out later. November 3, 200915 yr Author Any news as to the other 3 songs yet???? Does RTW ryw, Norma????? ;) :P RTW is Rule The World Biggie! The other three songs he sang were Patience, Back For Good and Greatest Day. He had a good reception from the crowd and from other performers. The show looked like a good one all-round - with music and comedy. As far as I can see - the only low point was the awful David Walliams (from the terminally unfunny Little Britain) doing his usual trick of wrestling another artist to the ground and 'oh hilarious' pulling his pants down - the victim this time being Mark Ronson. I mean I don't like Mark Ronson - but this behaviour from Walliams is just childish. Even Monty Python at their most childish never did anything as stupid as this. Norma

Norma Such a shame Gary did not do a comedy skit with David (or should I say Howard): DjYN3SamCMM Lucas & Walliams as Gary Barlow & Howard Donald Still when the one we shall not mention receives his BRIT Lifetime Achievement award, let's hope his former bandmates are there to give him his award: http://www.all3media.com/images/programmes/Star%20Stories%20-%20Take%20That268.jpg
November 3, 200915 yr Author Still when the one we shall not mention receives his BRIT Lifetime Achievement award, let's hope his former bandmates are there to give him his award: Not a chance in hell of that happening I'm glad to say! :) I'm sure both Rob and Take That would recognise that a scenario like that would be just pure cheese! It'd put me off Take That for life if they were to stoop so low. Norma Mind you ... I'd love Gary or one of the others to just have the chance to say 'Rob ... congrats on joining the ranks of Wham and the Spice Girls! And you know Rob ... you were right ... you were always the talented one' On a serious note though ... as it is just as important to have the right presenters ... it would be quite nice if they gave the honour of presenting Rob his award to Ray Heffernan - at least Rob could take the opportunity of thanking the man who helped save his career and bringing him to this 'auspicious' point in his life!
