September 19, 200915 yr It's totally true... tbh they need more people like us working in the record industry :kink: What would be the harm in foreign artists having success in the UK? I guess Simon Cowell might suffer a bit...
September 19, 200915 yr the industry would be a lot more interesting Stadt is exactly the sort of thing that could be big here, soundwise, not that it would ever be given the chance
September 19, 200915 yr Radio 1 is a big problem though. It basically owns the singles chart as far as success goes. Yes songs without their support can go top40, but usually just scrape the chart. Long are the days where songs would do well based on club support only, or based on The Box support, or just the simple european hit spreading to the UK seems rare nowadays.
September 19, 200915 yr It's true, I really miss those times where a song can be a huge hit in Europe and chart here just on word of mouth. Radio 1 really has TOO MUCH power. It's practically got a monopoly :snif:
September 19, 200915 yr thing is, even commercial radio used to support a lot of songs from the continent...I remember Blue (Da Ba Dee) and Mambo No.5 were absolutely hammered on commercial radio in summer 1999, long before Radio 1 started playing them now though, it's completely stuck in the past...they play more 70's and 80's stuff on commercial radio now than they did 10 years ago, and the most recent song I ever hear on Heart FM is Sex On Fire, which says it all really :/ Radio 1 are partly to blame but not entirely...plus the music channels have nowhere near as much impact as it used to have since the internet became big
September 19, 200915 yr 62 01 Panik - Lass Mich Fallen This song is f***in' good I love It. Poor Linda Teodosiu, very low chart positin for album :( Next week new album by No Angels in chart, i hope it for top 10.

September 20, 200915 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 18.09 Quite a disappointing chart this week, at least for me. First I've expected Madonna to remove Marit Larsen from the top spot and not only that has not happened but Shakira manages to chart higher than the Queen of pop. Apart from that, it's a shame that Jay-Z's latest enters at the lower end of the top 20, but which is still more disturbing is how Germans are going to ignore Mika's latest golden hit... However, let's return to the chart itself. So Marit Larsen and her already boring hit remains at the top spot for a fourth week. She is challenged by the highest new entry coming from Shakira and "She Wolf" at #2. Still I cannot quite get the appeal of the song. It is not bad, but I don't think it's the best she can offer. And am I the only one who thinks she copies Beyonce's style in the video... Shakira has been number one in the country with "Whenever Wherever", "Hips Don't Lie" and "Beautiful Liar". Next up is Madonna who enters the chart at number five. "Celebration", a great dance track, marks the release of her latest compilation with greatest hits. Strangely or not, a superstar she may be, but Madonna has only four number one singles in the country, with the latest three being in the last century... So I hoped that "Celebration" will be the next, but at least it has the honour to be her 25fh top ten single. Once again the female dominance in the German charts is clear but this time we have two male singers entering the top 20. Actually Justin Bieber is only 15 years old and, with the help of Usher, one of the rising teen stars across the Atlantic. His appeal has been now transferred towards Europe and Justin's debut single comes this week at #14. As long as Jay-Z is concerned his best performance as a lead singer in Germany continues to be "Hard Knock Life" from 1998 which peaked at #5 and "'03 Bonnie & Clyde", which reached #6. Although "Run This Town" is a massive hit elsewhere, for now manages only the #18 position in Germany. It however has a potential to go higher in the next weeks. I however doubt the potential of Mika's latest pop anthem "We Are Golden" to go much higher in Germany from its dismal entry at #29. "We Are Golden", the lead single from his second album, is for now his lowest charting song in the country apart from "Lollipop". Fingers crossed it will remain in the top 30 for a long time... And some quick words for several of the other new entries. It's good to see one of the newcomers of 2009 finally in the German charts at #37. Still I think Pixie Lott should have charted higher. Maybe with "Boys and Girls"? It's great also to see the latest from U2, Paramore and Muse in the top 50.
September 20, 200915 yr now though, it's completely stuck in the past...they play more 70's and 80's stuff on commercial radio now than they did 10 years ago, and the most recent song I ever hear on Heart FM is Sex On Fire, which says it all really :/ In our place, it has R1, R2, Heart (which is too friendly a radio station is, plays a lot of old tracks, I haven't heard 'Get Sexy', I still hear 'About You Now'...), Exeter FM (which plays mostly old stuff, bugger...), Classic FM. So, basically things have changed alot. But I don't care TBH... I can always use the Internet. Edited September 20, 200915 yr by FM11
September 20, 200915 yr Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 18.09 but which is still more disturbing is how Germans are going to ignore Mika's latest golden hit... Disturbing? If anything, its a sign of good taste :D

I can always use the Internet. Get Sexy is too suggestive for daytime radio, Girls and About You Now are much more 'safe' I guess, lyrically, music is a lot more 'sex sells' than it was ten years ago, and no commercial station, which aims to appeal to a wide audience, old and young, is going to play Get Sexy or Sexy Bitch etc...hence the continued airplay for About You Now and When Love Takes Over, that are much 'safer' songs it's a shame, but it's a fact of life... Heart does play a few current songs I guess...I hear Break Your Heart, She Wolf, Boys & Girls and Celebration quite a bit
September 24, 200915 yr I see Madonna's curse of peaking at number 2 also effects her in Germany.
