10 years today 'The Fragile' came out.

I think that makes it a classic, being as amazing as it is, obviously it is no 'Downward Spiral' or 'Pretty Hate Machine', but the album is still amazing.

TF is a beautiful album, masterfully constructed, and perfectly uses a wide range of instruments compared to the other NIN albums, exploring more musically with stucture and experimentation with guitars and strings instruments.

What do you think of 'The Fragile'? Would you deem it a classic? Does it still listen well 10 years on?

A more longer thought on The Fragile from me later.

currently listening to the album start to finish, amazing.

I always thought it was a bit of an error to make it a double... I mean, I really could have lived without utter chaff like "Starfukkers Inc", which is just Trent being a bit lazy and pointless, IMO.... Yes, we all know you fell out with Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, Trent, but why so bitter....? There's really probably about 6 or 7 tracks that I could've lived without.... The rest of it, rather ironically contains some of the best material Trent's ever written.... Without the chaff, "The Fragile" could easily have been NIN's best album....

and posted by Trent himself on twitter yesterday...

we've begun work on the ULTIMATE reissue coming 2010. #thefragile

also #thefragile was in the trending topics on twitter for hours yesterday, much like how #nin was on the night of their final show.

Definitely my favourite NIN album... much more subtle and darker than any of the other albums. Not as aggressive as the previous ones but rather melancholic. It came out exactly when I needed it and I feel special connection to most of the songs. Especially to 'The Great Below'. I literally spent DAYS just listening to this track. After hundreds of listens I still love it to bits and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

The selection of the singles in this era was also perfect IMO + all of them were accompanied by excellent videos.

Overall, undoubtedly in my all time top 5 albums!
