Quick look at the ESCToday poll for MGP. That currently says that Venke & Maria should pass to the final, with Alexander & Tomine going to the second chance. Do remember though, that the poll last week wasn't 100% correct.

I've still only heard 30 second clips of the MGP songs but Venke sounds by far the best to me...

 

why do Sweden want international juries to have over a 25% say in their entry choice? fed up of finishing bottom ten I guess...and where are the juries coming from? specific countries or randomly assigned mixed groups of people from other countries?

I thought it was completely pointless to be honest, another way for SVT to make money by having one more finalist to phone and vote for :lol: sitting through Sofia singing Alla was incredibly boring, the crowd was completely flat when she came on - she didn't deserve to be there and didn't seem to have any support in the arena :( considering she only came 7th in her semi, it's unlikely that the public would suddenly start to love her, I would have preferred Amy Diamond there on principle, just because she was the only other option at the end and at least made it as far as Second Chance! although I would have much preferred BWO, Lili & Susie or Star Pilots to take the 11th spot over both Sofia and Amy...

Venke Knutson - Jealous Cause I Love You - this is more like it - the first really great pure pop song in MGP this year, absolutely brilliant - so catchy and charming, love it and a great vocal from Venke :wub: 9/10

Skanksters - Life Is Here Today - his accent is so odd, it's like a cockney Londoner, is he really Norwegian? :lol: this song is a lot like the sort of thing Madness would have produced at their peak - the melody especially, very 80's...I don't actually mind it at all and could see it qualifying seeing as it's 'different'. 7.5/10

Tomine Harket - Be Good To Me - is this Morten Harket's daugher :o gorgeous voice, like the Molly Sanden of Norway, simple yet effective ballad - very emotive, could do a 'Stronger Every Minute' at Eurovision... 8.5/10

Hanne Haugsand - Don't Stop - this woman was part of Charmed (My Heart Goes Boom) ten years ago apparently :o Her whole look is awful, her hair is an abomination, she looks like a poodle that's just been blow dryed. The verses remind me of Kiss by Vengaboys and are very good, the chorus is pretty good too, I could imagine this woman and her awful look being referenced in Eurovision history shows for years to come :lol: not amazing, but good enough. 8/10

Maria Arredondo - The Touch - very nice ballad, more interesting than the other one and Maria is a pleasant singer - could be a grower and could do very well at ESC as it's incredibly classy. 8.5/10

Heine Totland - The Best Of Me Is You - parts of this song really remind me of something...anyway, I'm not a fan of this...quite dated and forgettable a la Andy Abraham UK 2008...can't see it attracting many votes from around Europe and wouldn't be a great host entry at all...4/10

Alexander Stenerud - Give It To Me - this isn't bad...he keeps coming back every year and seems to be doing better, came 3rd last year - this song has 2 key changes! catchy and good but I'm not bowled over by it just yet 8/10

 

Venke and one of the ballads to qualify please! I have a suspicion that it will be Skanksters and Alexander going through to the final though, with Venke (maybe) or both of the ballads going to last chance...I can't see how Heine and Hanne possibly have a hope in hell of going further

btw; Is it just me but didn't Maria's preformance look like Yohanna's preformance in ESC last year? :lol:

four pretty good finalists so far but none of them will come anywhere close to another win for Norway...the two Maria's have the songs most likely to do well in the Eurovision but they're hardly in the same league as Hold On Be Strong and Fairytale...
