wow, the presenter with the darker hair is 39! she keeps herself looking young :o the other presenter was former Miss Iceland!

Menn Ársins - Gefst ekki upp - this still reminds me of Fall At Your Feet by Crowded House...not a bad song at all, and male duo's have always managed to pull off shock good results at ESC somehow (Olsen's, Tanel & Dave, Walters & Kazha) - quite nice, nice string section/harmonies. 8/10

Hvanndalsbræður - Gleði og glens - this is a very odd song, it would be quite intriguing to see it at Eurovision, it sounds like Queens of the Stone Age mixed with an old folk sea shanty and a jig, all sung in Icelandic of course - bizarre, but a guilty pleasure  8.5/10

Sigrún Vala Baldursdóttir - I believe in angels - This is so incredibly ABBA (acoustic singalong ABBA as opposed to schalger ABBA)...and generic Eurovision, lyrics and music-wise...absolutely brilliant in that case then! Reminds me of I Have A Dream slightly! Nice string section, good, fairly attractive singer - this could do quite well at ESC, but it's an incredibly western pop song, I'm not sure that the eastern countries would be interested in it. 9/10

four pretty good finalists so far but none of them will come anywhere close to another win for Norway...the two Maria's have the songs most likely to do well in the Eurovision but they're hardly in the same league as Hold On Be Strong and Fairytale...

come on Mira/A1 - please don't let me down!

Rich, have you heard the A1 clip there is floating around? It sounds very promising indeed! I can't post it here because it's also a download link but let me know if you want me to PM it.

Didn't actually watch MGP as it keeps stopping to buffer, but I will watch it tomorrow when it plays fine.

Seen the results though, and they seem ok. Alexander's song might be ok in full, his song last year grew on me. Glad Venke at least made it through to the second chance. Hope there are only two good songs next week and that they both reach the final, because we already have two really good songs in the second chance now

Hope Mira won't let us down. A1 clip sounds ok :)

Jógvan Hansen - One more day - really nice song actually - can see this qualifying with ease - not a lot more to say about it really 8/10

Edgar Smári Atlason - Now and forever - hmm...another nice song with a decent chorus, decent semi all round really in my opinion - all five were good 8.5/10

I guess it will be the final two that qualify, I'm not bothered actually as all five have potential to grow/are good to start off with

I have, I couldn't really make a judgement out of it but can't wait to hear the full song, it sounds quite classy - I am praying that the winner comes out of Semi 3 because the songs that qualified from the first 2 semis aren't going to do anything for Norway at ESC

did I imagine it or was Yohanna in a TV ad for Quaker oats just then

I'm quite pleased with the result actually -

Hvanndalsbræður - Gleði og glens and Jógvan Hansen - One more day qualified :D both very good songs with scope to grow :D

I agree, but it was nothing there that was a winning song :P

I hope "the one" is in SF 3

"The One" will actually be coming from the UK this year :P ("The One", as in, the winner of ESC)

This is a bit random, but I've been looking through old Popjustice song's of the day, and seen one of them was the French entry in Belgrade, "Divine". And "It's You", a entry in the UK selection of the same year.

"Song #1" was song of the day shortly after the contest in 2007. PJ said "Like Scooch, this lot didn't win Eurovision. That angry old Lesbian did". That made me laugh. Dunno if they did song of the day much before that, but only a few are listed earlier than "Song #1", so I can't tell if Scooch was song of the day when it won the selection.

Maria's song is good ("Make My Day" Maria that is), and Alexander's song is growing on me. But the Norwegians are voted the best songs into the second chance :(

Bring on DMGP and Sukkerchok! Or news on the UK selection.

And at least the Finnish have put my two favourites into the final.

Oh, and the song "Lady GAGA" has made it into the live shows for Moldova, along with 24 other songs which I don't care about. :D

Just had a listen to a few of the Norweigan songs on iTunes...really liking 'Yes Man' it has to be said from the preview clip! Will be downloading that one I think!
