Just been rooting around recently on my hard-drive and checking out albums I've not listened to in years for one reason or another... And, kind of rediscovered this little lost gem. Popped it on my n95 and been listening to it the past couple of days... Blimey! What a fukkin' great record!!!! I cant think why I've not listened to this in so long... Maybe it's cos I'd kind of lost interest in Indie for so long, and now my interest has been re-ignited by the likes of Interpol, Editors, The Horrors, Ladytron and a few others (as well as recent great records by Placebo and Manics)... It's something I'd recommend everyone does, look through your collection, find something you've not listened to in ages and listen to it again... You might rediscover some great music you'd forgotten about....

But honestly, this record is great - it's like someone took The Jesus and Mary Chain, Velvet Underground, Iggy and the Stooges, Echo and the Bunnymen, added a dash of Spacemen 3 and mixed it in a blender.... I cant even remember what inspired me to buy it in the first place tbh... Impulse buy maybe...? It does seem that BMRC are a bit of a forgotten band though, anyone know what they've been up to since they released this record...? Any follow-ups...? No one really seems to talk about them anymore....

might find it or just download it for a listen later, you might put me in the state you seem to be in with this album lol,

seriously love 'Whatever Happened To My Rock and Roll'

I FEEL IN LOVE WITH A SWEET SENSATION, I GAVE MY HEART TO A SIMPLE CHORD.

ok im addicted to that track again.

They've released at least three albums since the debut with varying degrees of success altghough for me they never really captured the magic of that first album.

Ah, so maybe not exactly missing anything if I dont check out the stuff after this then....?

This happens to a lot of bands... They do one absolutely genius record, then either disappear or just tread water... The Stone Roses being the classic example....

Wait til you hear stuff like "Rifles", "Spread Your Love" or "Red Eyes and Tears" mate......

Thay actually have a song on the New Moon soundtrack and are going to release a new album next year.

I saw this lot on their tour for their second album Take Them On, On Your Own and they were a great rock n' roll band.

While I love their first album, this one has completely disappeared off my radar. I am now listening to it and the first track "Stop" is great.

Yes, I remember buying this around Christmas time 2001 and not being able to get enough of it. Such a shame that all their follow up albums were mediocre. They were part of that whole Strokes / Datsuns / Libertines (I suppose...) revolution that brought dirtier, faster guitar music back into the mainstream away from tosh like Stereophonics, Travis, Coldplay etc. Now look at us...in exactly the same position - where's the next guitar revolution going to come from?

Well, The Horrors have released a bloody good album this year mate....

Editors album is brilliant as well.. Though, not exactly a "guitar" album... More like a gloomy, atmospheric, minimalist and rather Gothy Electronica/Synthpop album....

TBH I think the next A Place To Bury Strangers album is better than The Horrors but the next thing in guitar rock does seem to be late 80s J&MC/MBV inspired.

Yes, but the hype hasn't followed them. Which is a good thing of course. It's just there's no figurehead to be remembered in the same way as The Sex Pistols, Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys...not that it's important.

Other great guitar albums this year came from the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and The Phantom Band.

I really like BRMC. But 'Howl' is for me, miles above any of their other albums in terms of quality. It's very different to the rest but it's one of my top albums of the decade!

Well, definitely... Which means The Horrors can be judged on the quality of the music as opposed to what sh!te the NME or the other sections of the Media say about them... I certainly do NOT want Faris becoming another Pete Doherty or Liam Gallagher....

had a full listen to the album the other day, pretty good stuff, some tracks that i hadnt heard for a while and sort of forgot are nice to hear again.
