June 30, 200619 yr I personally think he shouldn't quit... he's the best thing that could've happened to the Argentinian team in years and I hope Julio Grondona (FIFA's Vicepresident/AFA's President) will be able to persuade him not to! Our team is a grower and I'm 100% with these guys, they've brought happiness to us after a lot of bitterness (including 2002's fiasco). Edited June 30, 200619 yr by Luciano
June 30, 200619 yr I think the Argentinian coach gets payed 100k a year compared to Sven's 5 million I think.
June 30, 200619 yr I think the Argentinian coach gets payed 100k a year compared to Sven's 5 million I think. Jeez that is poor! The players must be millionaires though! Argentina is a poorer country yeah, but alot of them will play for big clubs surely Thought they could afford decent wages for the footie team though!

The ones like Messi, Ayala, Sorin, Riqemle will be on bigger bucks but the players that are based in Argentina, they'll probably be on pennies compared to The Premiershp players.
June 30, 200619 yr ... and still most European clubs have to rely on them! I think you all can state an opinion without being rude, which you've been.
June 30, 200619 yr ... and still most European clubs have to rely on them! I think you all can state an opinion without being rude, which you've been. Nah Our team would get slaughtered by the UK media cos of something like this Just our nature
June 30, 200619 yr Well, I might not be familiar with these kind of commentaries or I might be too sensitive then...
July 1, 200619 yr It's a shame this had to happen really, the best and most entertaining team in the tournament are out and the disparity in wages between Sven and the Argentinian coach is pretty disgusting to be honest, I cant blame him for wanting to quit and get a higher paid job, more than likely for some European club (hmm, isn't Sven's job gonna be vacant soon...? )..... I think the fight that happened was just as a result of passions running high and probably a show of petulance as well. It could even be that one of the German players may have said something that was considered insensitive or offensive. I heard on the news that Bierhoff was a particular focus of the Argentinian wrath, it may have been set off by something he said or did... I dunno, I guess it'll all come out in the FIFA enquiry, so it's probably best not to speculate just now.... As for this comment about the Argentinians being sore losers, well, happen so, but I aint heard of any rioting Argentinian supporters causing havoc, goose-stepping or raising Nazi salutes in Germany overnight, so they aint that sore losers. I'm just shuddering at the thought of what could happen if England lost against Germany should they meet, or indeed vice versa.... THEN, I reckon you're gonna see sore losers....
July 1, 200619 yr Well, I might not be familiar with these kind of commentaries or I might be too sensitive then... Well it is a shame They are actually better than Germany I think so it's not really fair (Plus i've got Crespo and Riquelme in my Fantasy League and only got 1 transfer left )
July 1, 200619 yr Argentina will be punished for their outburst. I would hope for points deductions or even better, a complete ban from WC 2010. But it won't, I'm hoping their punishment will be much bigger than Turkey's though, as what they did was much worse. Best example of sore losers I've ever seen :puke2:

That would be the fans though, not the effing players :puke2:
July 1, 200619 yr The coach should be sacked for not playing Messi who is possibly the best player in the world right now, if he had started they would have probably have won the game As for the rioting players afterwards aparently Oliver Bierhoff started making some gloating insulting remarks and the players reacted so if anyone is to blame its Bierhoff
July 1, 200619 yr Furious Fifa president Sepp Blatter confirmed it will investigate the ugly scenes which marred Germany's quarter-final victory over Argentina. Punches and kicks were thrown between both sides following Germany's penalty shoot-out success in Berlin. Blatter told Five Live Sport: "I am furious about that and our disciplinary committee will monitor this incident. "We will take some steps towards those who are identified as being the 'provocateurs' of this incident." Blatter added: "There was really no need. After 120 minutes football is a drama, and then you have to go to penalty kicks and then football becomes a tragedy, but one is the winner and one is the loser. "What I always say is in football you learn to win, but you also have to learn to lose." Germany's Torsten Frings said of the incident: "They (Argentina) are bad losers. They lost their minds." Argentina's unused substitute Leandro Cufre was shown a red card for kicking Germany's Per Mertesacker in the melee. The German defender said: "They are no choirboys. "One of their players attacked me even though I did not do anything. I have three or four red marks on my thigh and then he kicked me again in the groin." Germany's Frings said they tried to calm the Argentina players down, but added: "It just shows they are bad sports and are badly behaved. I hope their players get suspended." Argentina coach Jose Pekerman, who was criticised for taking off playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme when they were 1-0 up with 18 minutes to go, resigned after the quarter-final defeat. Germany will now face Italy in the semi-finals after the Azzurri saw off Ukraine 3-0 on Friday. Ban them I say :puke2:
