Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 09.10

Somewhat expected, following the initial surge in the sales of Rammstein's latest, more than scandalous, single, the interest in the song has plummeted resulting in a fall to number five. Still it is by far better than the plunge of 24 positions made by Tokio Hotel's newest single, which falls 5-29 in its second week in the chart. Quite bad...

That makes David Guetta claiming the #1 position for the first time with his monstrous hit "Sexy Bitch". Guest star Akon is no stranger to the top spot, after his smash hit "Lonely" reached it in 2005.

The biggest new entry of the week comes from former DSDS winner Mark Medlock, whose sixth ever single is also his sixth consecutive top five hit... Despite that the recipe is the same as his previous hit "Mamacita" (one of the songs of the summer in Germany), Germans still like Mark and his, or Dieter Bohlen's, charisma. And in what is a perfect market move, Mark never releases too many singles from one album. Thus "Baby Blue" comes as a new track in the re-released "Club Tropicana" LP. Is this the way to be always in the top ten?

The next new hit of the week is at #25 and belongs to Livingston. The band, with South African origins, is new to the chart although it has played as a support act to names such as Revolverheld, Blind, The Duke Spirit, Ich & Ich and Thomas Godoj.

This week also sees the return of Austria's biggest star in the top 100. Unfortunately for DJ Oetzi, his latest single "Sweet Carolina" enters at #37 and it seems is going to be his lowest charting single since 2004. But I still have the feeling he will come up with a number one once again...

And finally, proving that Pussycat Dolls are these days not the great stars they used to be, at least in Germany, their latest offering "Hush Hush" comes in at #44. It is for now their least successful single in the country and I'm not quite sure if a physical release will boost much the sales. Nevertheless, I think that the peak position of their previous single "Jai Ho" at #29 is one of the biggest mistakes in the chart this year as the song was a top tune all over the world and deserved to be top ten...

I really like the new Paul Van Dyk (though who is Jonny McDaid?) and Ida Corr songs. Hopefully both future UK hits, and possible BJSC entries for you Ben? :kink: Also you missed out the DJ Otzi prep :heehee:

I don't really like Ida Corr's new song tbh :(

Johnny McDaid is a former member of the band Vega4. More about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_McDaid
