I did this about a year ago but a lot has changed since then...this is based on songs I heard for the FIRST time in this contest, regardless of whether I heard them later on elsewhere...some songs have changed places since last time I did this, as some of my previous 'discoveries' I no longer listen to whereas I'm quite happy to admit that I still listen to all 50 of these quite regularly...first block of ten, no bells and whistles until the top ten...nobody watches the embedded videos anyway

50-41

50. Britmasu - Mandy Moore - I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week

49. Bhangra - Jade Ewen - GotMy$h!tTogeva

48. Nonsuch - Suzie McNeil - Lonely (Are You Coming Home?)

47. MKL - Lady GaGa - Just Dance

46. USJ - Jessica Mauboy – Running Back

45. Angelicland - Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning

44. Ojnoj - Cindy Gomez - Again & Again

43. FNT Nickodonia - Polly Scattergood - Other Too Endless

42. Sangria - Christophe Willem – Kiss The Bride

41. JRK-Off - Shontelle - T-Shirt

Kicking off then with a great song by one of my favourite popstars of the early 00's Mandy Moore, Jade Ewen showed a more edgy side to her with Bhangra's first time entering her, Nonsuch sent a gorgeous ballad by Suzie, MKL introduced me to GaGa for the first time, even though this is far from my favourite of her songs...USJ's Running Back was ridiculously underrated for a quite dark R&B song, Angelicland introduced me to a single that had completely passed me by from Ladyhawke, Ojnoj sent a great pop song last month from Cindy Gomez, FNT Nickodonia led me to actually buy Polly's album with this lovely song, a great male entry from Sangria pops up at No.42, and a song that later went on to become a huge hit in the UK from Shontelle was sent by JRK-Off and BJSC was the first time I heard it

40-31

40. Triodopolis - Love Willows - A Day In My Life

39. Hendinia - Mini Viva - Left My Heart In Tokyo

38. Eledan - tATu - Gomenasai

37. Triodopolis - Kate Voegele - Only Fooling Myself

36. Quotosibb - Beverley Knight - Black Butta

35. Kopečka - Kaci Battaglia - Crazy Possessive

34. Greenfroze - Emmy Rossum - Slow Me Down

33. Dalisska - Marie Mai - Emenne-Moi

32. Tapatilandia - Belanova - Rosa Pastel

31. Herzebania - Dixie Chicks - The Rainbow Connection

The next batch kicks off with a great little pop song from Tridopolis, aside from the really annoying alarm clock sound at the start...Hendinia went top ten with a fantastic pop song from Mini Viva, which I hadn't heard despite it being on the release schedule...Eledan's first winner was a gorgeous song, Tridopolis excelled at the first try with Kate Voegele, Quotosibb's legendary winner from Beverley makes a well deserved appearance just behind some cheap but excellent trash from Kopecka...a gorgeous and unique song from Greenfroze is at #34 whilst a great French song sent by Dalisska pops up at No.33 and was one of very few highlights of a very weak and cheap BJSCXIV...another great foreign pop song from Tapatilandia appears at #32 and rounding off this section is an absolutely goregous song from Dixie Chicks sent by Herzebania which DNQ'd :snif:

30. Herzebania - Gigi D'Allessio - Non Mollare Mai

29. Kopečka - Priscilla Renea - Dollhouse

28. Ashton - Red Blooded Women - You Made Your Bed

27. Kellyana Kingdom - Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

26. Ashton - Nevio; Gabriella Cilmi - Non Ti Aspettavo

25. Nonsuch - Cyndi Lauper - Into The Nightlife

24. Sangria - Linda Kiraly - Can’t Let Go

23. Mdice - Kesha - Dolla

22. Lotopialand - Daisy - Everytime

21. Torchwood - Lady GaGa - Paparazzi

Next ten up then including a couple of foreign flops, why won't people vote for these amazing songs!?!?! Kopecka excelled with their usual brand of unknown pop with Dollhouse, the prequel to Dollface :P Aside from Nevio/Cilmi, Ashton feature with another brilliant RBW song, You Made Your Bed, Kellyana Kingdom introduced me to the wonderful Rabbit Heart, Nonsuch proved that with an amazing song, even more mature ladies + contest hosts can do well in this contest! Sangria pop up again with the brilliant Can't Let Go by Linda Kiraly, Mdice have one of two entries with the brilliant winner Dolla, now Tik Tok, by Kesha, Lotopialand made their only major impact to date with the fantastic Swedish pop-dance track Everytime by Daisy and just before the top 20, Torchwood introduced to us the future SMASH Paparazzi by Lady GaGa almost a year ago now :o

not one to draw things out, here are 20-11;

20. Kopečka - Serebro - Opium

19. Mdice - Firefox AK - Once I Was Like You

18. Dalisska - Kate Miller-Heidke - Words

17. M.K.L. - Jessica Jarrell - Armageddon

16. Ashton - Red Blooded Women - Colour Me Dirty

15. Kopečka - Erik Hassle - Hurtful

14. Kingdom of Shadow - Lights - Ice

13. M.K.L - Livvi Franc - Now I’m That Bitch [Nevins Rhythmic Remix]

12. Numayania - Le Kid - Mercy Mercy

11. Ashton - Alex Roots - Don't Stop Looking

kicking off with a country who have a fifth of the top 20 (:drama:), Kopecka with our infamous 12 swap for Smack Me and the excellent Opium way back in VI!!! Mdice have their highest entry with one of their least highly regarded entries, the beautifully subtle Firefox AK  the hugely underrated Dalisska appear once again with Kate Miller-Heidke's oddball Words, yes I am in the fan club!!! MKL had a great run a few contests back, Jessica Jarrell's pop urban song Armageddon really should have come top 5 that contest...Ashton VII, their proudest entry to date, from Red Blooded Women appears at #16, amazing song, followed by the Swedish ginger star Erik Hassle, another one from Kopecka, the stunningly beautiful Hurtful  Kingdom of Shadow pop up for the first time with Lights song Ice, which definitely didn't deserve to only come 6th, fantastic discovery!!! MKL excelled again with Livvi Franc, putting life into a quite frankly boring song with the Nevins remix if Now I'm That Bitch, would have been a worthy winner, but I'm still glad I just beat it in the end :drama: Numaynia pop up at #12 with the amazing Mercy Mercy by Le Kid whilst Ashton appear again with their best entry of recent times, Don't Stop Looking by quirky teenager Alex Roots which took them back to the top five a few months ago...top ten coming...

into the top ten, all of these are beyond EPIC, I listen to all of these very very very regularly

10. Espen - Katzenjammer - A Bar In Amsterdam (BJSCXIX)

I expected this to be too quirky for BJSC and thought a DNQ was on the cards...not only did it qualify but convincingly finished top ten and NEEDS to wildcard it into the next stage of the Best Of. Absolutely fantastic bizarre Norwegian pop that sounds like the best Eurovision entry Moldova have never sent...bought their album off the back of this and it's very nearly as great as this song! Thank you Espen :cheer:

9. Kopečka - La Roux - Quicksand (BJSCXII)

The most underrated winner by far he says!?! Not by me, by far La Roux's best song in my opinion, it's a shame it had a soft release...it should have been the third proper single after Bulletproof. Brilliant artist loved by few, but loved by me, a well deserved winner for the country that sit convincingly at the top of my voting history, with six entries into this countdown :o :o :o I had heard of her on Popjustice, but had not listened to this song until it was sent I seem to recall...

8. Kopečka - Camille - Money Note (BJSCX)

A third song that split opinion right down the middle, although La Roux was more widely loved back then, before she opened her mouth...In a bizarrely respectable contest music wise, Money Note was by far the oddest song in the contest, and had a fair share of haters, except unlike with Headhunted, the lovers seemed to slightly outweight the haters and it managed to 8th it in the semis, in the final and again in the Best Of...so it's only fitting that it finishes 8th here  a six minute piano/percussion epic, there are no words to describe this song...that's it from Kopečka, thank you for consistently sending amazing and original songs to BJSC, what would we do without you!?!

what the hell was that at No. 10? :o

was this the contest you forgot to participate in :drama:
