these were the last available odds before the final last year;

Malena Ernman - La voix 3,00

Måns Zelmerlöv - Hope & Glory 3,25

Caroline af Ugglas - Snälla snälla 4,50

EMD - Baby Goodbye 7,00

H,E,A,T - 1000 miles 8,00

Sarah Dawn Finer - Moving on 13,00

Alcazar - Stay the night 14,00

Agnes - Love love love 15,00

Molly Sanden - Så vill stjärnorna 18,00

Emilia - You're my world 67,00

Sofia - Alla 100,00

Not exactly wildly out...Alcazar and H.E.A.T swapped places, the bottom three shuffled around a bit, Caroline and E.M.D. went a place higher each to move down Mans, but otherwise exactly right - spot on with Malena. I have to say, being over there and walking around Stockholm on the day of the final, it did feel overwhelmingly like Caroline was going to win, but never underestimate the bookies I guess. Anna for the Oslo then!?!

There's a computer in the hotel lobby I think...I can't imagine I'll be using it much though  but seriously last year Caroline was to the papers over there what Cheryl Cole is here - plastered all over everything. It definitely felt like she was going to win despite the odds :o

I'm hoping for Salem/Timoteij fever this time!

I would love if either Anna, Salem or Timoteij won. Anna would take the points away from Niamh, though. :kink:

and if Anna doesn't win - Espen BJSC lyk.

My friend, who I've never once heard talk about Eurovision, nor did I know had any knowledge of it just asked me when I said I was going to Sweden (didn't say why);

'have you ever heard of Caroline Af Ugglas and Malena Ernman'

:o

So that was the most random instance of the day then

For heavens sake, I like This Is My Life but it had better not win. I do not want to see it at Eurovision. We need uptempos, urgently.

that's what Pete Waterman's for :magic:

Ugh I don't want to rely too much on Pete Waterman because I could be disappointed.

Still though we're running out of options. We know what Azerbaijan have to offer and there's nothing great there, I like Israel's songs but they're all ballads. Greece's songs are all okay but not up to their usual standard.

Which leaves Germany, Serbia, Bosnia-Herz, France and Estonia (I've not heard their ones) to deliver the goods. I'm losing hope.

I still don't feel like we've heard the winner yet, and if we have then it's Norway or Ireland :o

As much as I'd like to believe that it's one of those two, I really can't see it. If they get good draws (as in, away from each other) then I can see them both coming top ten, but I'm not sure about winning. However, it's pretty hard to believe that the chances are we've heard the winner, since we've heard the entries from 5 out of the 10 countries still to pick, so who knows what will happen.

I'd like to think Romania is in with a shot too.

There might be a surprise winner this year, I can't see anything having a Fairytale-like runaway lead. Even my favourite song this year, which at the moment is Norway (again), would have probably only been my 6th or 7th favourite last year. Still though, I'll give everything a chance to grow as it always does. I recall thinking at the start of last year that I didn't like many of the songs, and it turned out to be the best contest in years.

I'm actually seeing Romania as a winner now

As for MF, Timoteij HAVE to win this

  • Author
If Timoteij win MF, I think they could well win ESC due to the fact that it would be the most eventful song selected so far, even if it wouldn't have won any other year. But they're only 4th favourite at the moment :( They're obviously trying to do a Yohanna with Anna which is fine but Salem and Timoteij would be more interesting entries in my opinion.

What I hope:

1. Eric Saade - Manboy

2. Timoteij - Kom

3. Darin - You're Out Of My Life

4. Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life

5. Ola Svensson - Unstoppable

6. Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking

7. Jessica Andersson - I Did It For Love

8. Pernilla Wahlgren - Jag Vill Om Du Vågar

9. Peter Jöback - Hollow

10. Andreas Johnson - We Can Work It Out

What I think:

1. Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life

2. Timoteij - Kom

3. Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking

4. Eric Saade - Manboy

5. Darin - You're Out Of My Life

6. Peter Jöback - Hollow

7. Jessica Andersson - I Did It For Love

8. Ola Svensson - Unstoppable

9. Andreas Johnson - We Can Work It Out

10. Pernilla Wahlgren - Jag Vill Om Du Vågar

I'm definitely thinking that Andreas will scrape in last, even though Pernilla has worse odds than him...there are plenty of better ballads for people to vote for instead, the traditional middle aged woman schalger vote has to go somewhere and there's only one place for it to go!
Salem Al Fakir, Timoteij and Eric Saade would definitely be their best bets, so I hope that Anna falls at the last hurdle, as if it it's not her than it surely must be one of those three.

I'd think so, although I don't want to rule Darin out, he's an incredibly popular singer and I expect the juries will love Out Of My Life. What's more interesting this year I think is the introduction of the international juries. Will be interesting to see the differences between them and the regional Swedish juries. Anna has a good chance of coming top ten in the final I think, Eric and Timoteij might do better than they usually might due to the fact that either one would be just about the most uptempo song in the competition  I still can't enivsage how Salem would perform at ESC, just as I would have had no idea how Snalla Snalla would have done had it won last year. I've never heard anything like it in ESC before, so it's not comparable to any other situation.

I think Salem could do very well. There's certainly potential for it to come across very well on screen.

Anna could do reasonably well I guess but it would be another nail in the coffin of Eurovision 2010, and could push it into the territory of most boring contest EVER. I would be alot more supportive if there weren't already a load of boring, dated ballads.

I don't find 'This Is My Life' as dated as a lot of ballads selected. I've had Rix FM on a lot recently, and it's played all the time, much more than all of the other MF entries, and it certainly doesn't sound out of place amongst the likes of Westlife, Lady GaGa and Rihanna, it's a very commercial radio friendly song. I see what you mean about this year's contest though, it's incredibly ballad heavy, and a lot of the ballads aren't all that interesting. I guess it's thanks to the juries coming back, countries are assuming that it's the only thing that they're going to vote for (which was indeed backed up last year to some extent by Jade and Patricia doing much better than they otherwise would have done), but the juries also voted for the uptempo songs if they were good enough a la Fairytale!

 I long for the day somebody local comes out with something like that in conversation with me. The closest I've ever had is "Did you know that Cyprus boy is from Wales?" from my best friend
