It would be such a different sort of entry for Sweden too, I really think the juries would like it a lot - not sure how the public would take to it but we all love it so it must be a good sign! It's irrelevant anyway as they're bound to pick Peter Joback or Darin, but then I said the same last year about E.M.D. and Mans Zelmerlow and they both lost out to much lesser known singers with better songs :P COME ON SALEM :w00t:

Oh LOL :drama:

I agree. Juries would love it very very much! It'd get through semis quite easily i think. With great performance it'd be mindblowing!

will listen to the clips now, I'm watching ESC 2000 at the moment funnily enough - bought 1996-2003 contests on DVD from eBay!

I bought the complete set off there the other day! Not received them yet, but then I guess it'll take him a while to copy all them DVDs  .

This heat is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of quality I feel. It's the strongest heat so far, but that doesn't say very much. There's four entries that stand out for me; Alcazar, Elin Lanto, Timoteij (who remind me of Sarek - Loved them!) and Darin at a push.

Personally, I'd like Alcazar and Elin to go through to the final, and the other two to second chance. I have a feeling though that Darin and Alcazar will go to the final and Timoteij or Elin and one of the boys will go through to second chance.

wow :o I'm not interested in anything pre-1996 aside from the odd song or two, I've got all of the songs on another DVD I got from eBay a few years back and that's enough for me. I honestly can't imagine myself sitting and watching contests from the 60's

as a bonus by the way on most of the DVD's was the UK song selection competition! I vaguely recall watching most of them when they were originally screened...I'm surprised Precious' song was picked to be honest in 1999, the original demo version that they performed in Song For Europe wasn't that great. I also remember the Six Chix song from 2000! In fact, I have it on a Pepsi Chart compilation somewhere  it was quite country-esque, odd song but catchy. And Nanne in 2001! that would have been an odd entry for the UK! Shame Hall Om Mig lost out to Las Vegas in Melodifestivalen 2005 :/

I've been reading my ESC history book (sad I know  ) recently and some of the events that occurred in the earlier contests sound hilarious, so it kind of persuaded me to buy the lot. I bought 98-03 off the same guy a few years back and they too had the bonus content, though my 2003 disc went a bit funny on the Norway entry :( Luckily it was just that entry it jumped on. The 2003 contest was brilliant, helped especially by the antics of the presenters and Terry Wogan surprisingly

There were a few brilliant tunes in the Song For Europe shows. Yodel In The Canyon Of Love in 1997, I'll Never Be Lonely Again in 1998, DJ Romeo in 2002 and Help Me in 2003. I think I have that same Pepsi Chart compilation, I seem to recognise the band name from it  That Nanne song in SFE was awful, but Hall Om Mig was amazing and should have been sent to ESC!

I enjoyed the 2003 contest too, although only liked about 7 or 8 of the songs iirc, still a good few more than I liked from the dire 2002 contest though where the only decent songs all finished directly behind the worst winner of all time :drama: Still, Latvia definitely put on a decent show in 2003, and there was a lot of hype around it largely thanks to Jemini getting nul points and the classic Lou insults from tATu;

'She is a crusty old hag who looks like she's worn out more men in her life than we have vodka bottles.'

'In Russia we look after the blind and elderly, we don't send them to Eurovision.'

I did quite like Help Me too and When We're Alone We Dream from 1998, but I really hated DJ Romeo and Yodel In The Canyon Of Love if I'm honest  I suppose Sweden felt like they were running out of female soloists to send by 2005 and went for an (awful) male vocalist instead! It looks almost certain that they'll be going male again this year but luckily all of the songs confirmed for the final so far are 100 times better than Las Vegas!

2002 wasn't great, but I didn't mind the winner. Slovenia got my vote

I never knew about t.A.T.u.'s comments about Lou :o  . I loved her entry!

Yeah, I would be surprised if Sweden didn't send a male artist this year after the recent poor results with female soloists.

Only listened to the first five clips so far because my computer has started to act up, but Elin sounded the best out of the first five

I voted for Malta (obviously ) and Germany (I was probably the only one )

yeah, although Martin Stenmarck and The Ark hardly lit up the scoreboard :( Sweden just need to find a song which connects with the European audience, it's not like they've been short of them either - I reckon A Little Bit Of Love, I Remember Love, Empty Room, That Is Where I'll Go and Snalla Snalla could have all gone top ten quite easily but as long as they keep sending either Europop or Schlager, which really aren't at all popular genres in the East (or really the West anymore), they are going to keep flopping...I was surprised The Worrying Kind did so badly though, it was different, catchy, and brilliant yet only got points from the Scandinavian countries and the UK (who gave it 7 :o).

Finally I will be able to watch MF for the first time this year

I won't listen to the songs and rate them before the actually show.. :)

Now my question is.. will I watch it on TV or internet?

True. Empty Room would have been huge. It won the second chance contest, so that shows how good it was. I was a bit surprised by The Ark's flop too. Maybe that glam rock type of music wasn't popular outside of the UK in the 1970s?

I shall not be listening to short clips as well. Must stay unbiased.

The only thing i'm worried about is the internet connection, I'm now on Windows 7 so i don't know if it's stable during the night or not :(

Why on earth would you watch it on the internet if you're able to get it on TV?? :o

I'm so tired of not being able to get a decent broadcast of MF - mine always cuts out and buffers all the way through :( it's not like I'm using dial up internet
I'm hoping the stream is as epic as last week with no single pause to buffer  If not there's always Joanna Newsom's new album to listen or Maltese selection to watch :kink:

I hope so too, though it's a bit much to expect because I will try to watch Malta and Slovenia too :) By the way, you just started watching Gavin And Stacey didn't you? :kink:

I don't know why either, it was one of my very faves of that year, I even bought the 7" :kink: But I don't think that style of music is appealing to Eastern Europe... then again, they were the first countries to do "indie" entries (Brainstorm for Latvia, Taxi for Romania, Ruffus  for Estonia...)

Not 'started', am on s02e06 already. LOVE Ness' accent. Lush. TIDY :kink:

Because my mom and usally me watch the Olympics, but MF > Olympics for me :P

Is it possible to get a link of Manboy or not? :kink:
