I hope Agnes is doing a song this year.

Do the Swedish know that "Release Me" got to #3 in the UK? I'm hoping they think "Oh, she's really popular in the UK. Send her to Oslo and they might give us 12pts".

And "Lay Your Love On Me" is a great song, but my favourite BWO song will always be "Sunshine In The Rain" :)

I don't think Scandinavians care as much about the UK chart, I don't know anyone who know it :o

Do you think Agnes will bother with melodifestivalen now that she's big in the Uk though? :(

When most artist get past a certain point they seem to start feeling like they're above Eurovision... -_-

I think it's perceived very differently in Sweden anyway...Melodifestivalen is a major career booster there, all of this year's finalists launched new albums off the back of their success and most of them did very well; Malena, Caroline, EMD, Mans and possibly Sarah Dawn Finer all had No.1 albums and the others all ok...

it's all they can talk about in the papers on the week of the final

Well considering the amazing music scene you have? Why bother?

This is what have happend here in Norway too :P MGP was the most talked about subject in Norway, BEFORE Alexander Rybak won ESC.

I think this year is going to be even more, as we are hosting :) Remember that 50% of Norways POPULATION watched the ESC final :o 2,3 million people!

I thought people hated music from Scandinavia before :P

That said, it is entirely focussed on the Swedish market. Now that Agnes is known outside of Sweden I cannot see her being bothered for at least the next couple of years, and why should she really? She is touring America this month to promote the single, and the album is selling well throughout Europe. While Melodifestivalen is fantastic publicity within Sweden, Agnes doesn't really have that much to gain from going in for it again so soon.

Maybe, but I'd say she does have a choice in the matter too :P

oh I definitely agree with you, I don't think she'll be back next year either, I was just saying that it's a huge deal though, I hadn't realised how huge until we actually went and I saw the hype for myself

Just see what happend to Charlotte Perrelli :P She got depressed after MF/ESC. I don't think Agnes want to do MF for a long time :P but then we have the ones who handle this much better

did she? :o oh dear...it must have felt quite awful to have won the ESC and then scraped into the top 20 the next time with a better song

but times move on, schlager pop doesn't seem to work in the ESC anymore...Sweden are yet to learn this

She used a lot of money and was predicted to win aswell :P

oh, did she fund it herself :o

it was obvious that she was never going to win, although I had expected her to at least scrape into the top ten...well, to be honest after their other examples this decade, I expected it to come 5th like Sweden's 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006's schalger-pop songs :heehee:

She was touring around in Europe the months before ESC, I think she used 2 million swedish kroner

Woah :o But a lot of artists do the same now...

Apropos of nothing, ALPHABEAT FOR DENMARK :kink:

I think her breakdown was more down to the intensive working schedule she had to do leading up to the contest, and the breakup of her marriage must have had something to do with it...

That said I'm sure her 18th place didn't help matters :P

I was gutted that she came so low :(

that said, I didn't vote for her in the final (although did in the semi), I voted for Norway and Iceland, who gave my favourite performances in the 2008 final

Iceland was my favourite, exept Norway of course :kink:

I liked Hero more than Hold On Be Strong all the way up until the semi-final when I realised that live performance wise, Maria>>>>>>>>>>>>>Charlotte

I'd still rank both songs amongst my favourites of the decade though

Norway and Iceland really are on fire actually...I don't think either have sent a bad track since 2004! (Iceland 2007 aside :drama:)
