Oh and Denise is one nightmare of a mother, I thought mine was bad.
Oh come on people. It's hardly shocking. He's an 18 year old lad who wanted to lose his virginity so he lost it to an older woman. It was a drunken fumble in the toilets which neither thought would result in a pregnancy. It's hardly ridicilous either- Loads of teenagers get older women pregnant.

Yes but most 18 year old teenage lads don't want to lose their virginity to an elephant! No matter how drunk!

Sorry, sorry! Couldn't resist it!

yeah sorry but as if Darren would fancy Heather, even if he was off his face!
Jill Gascoine has stepped down from the role of EastEnders' Glenda Mitchell, forcing the soap's bosses to recast the character just days after the initial announcement.

With such tight filming schedules, the series was forced to hire a replacement, opting for ex-Dempsey and Makepeace actress Glynis Barber.

Earlier this week, producers revealed that 72-year-old Gascoine - star of The Gentle Touch and C.A.T.S. Eyes - had signed to play the role of Archie Mitchell's (Larry Lamb) estranged wife Glenda.

However, during her first day on set, Gascoine took the decision to withdraw from her filming commitments as she felt that she "lacked the right experience to film such a big continuing drama".

Speaking of her conclusion to step down, Gascoine said: "I was so looking forward to playing Glenda but having spent the last 15 years working in America - largely acting in single drama and writing fiction - I felt, on arrival, I lacked the right experience to film such a big continuing drama.

"I have tremendous respect for EastEnders and the cast so I didn't want to let the show or my fellow cast members down."

She added: "I'm really sad that I won't now play a part in EastEnders but I'd like to wish Glynis Barber the best of luck in the role of Glenda."

Barber - who portrayed the part of Harriet Makepeace in the 1980s crime drama and more recently Emmerdale's DCI Grace Barraclough - began filming with EastEnders earlier this week and will make her first appearance as Glenda in the New Year.

Grace Barraclough :o Gosh she bugged me :heehee:

This storyline goves darren a storyline which he needs, but i had a feeling all along it would be him, i can see the snense of it in a way as we said b4 he just wanted to los ehis virginity and he prob tikught he was safe with heather.

Well to be fair, that elephant I mentioned would have to be very drunk to have it away with Darren!

...... you can guess my opinion on this utter fiasco..

sandwiched between 2 OUTSTANDING episodes of corrie, the ee break proved yet again how utterly ridiculous this programme is.

i havnt been watching, as its $h!t, but between corrie it fitted a half hour break, picking up immediately on the storyline ...a very old storyline at that.. i first saw this plotline in 'dallas' when jr was shot 30 fcukin years ago <_<. knowing how ee opperates nowdays it was obvious who the dad was.. THE LEAST REALISTIC. god how effing PREDICTABLE <_<

UTTER NONSENSE.

corrie on the other hand was BRILLIANT!

Well one supposes Corrie has the right to brilliant once in a blue moon. I've never been able to sit through an episode. Appalling show.

I didn't think this was the best direction to take the storyline in by any means. I've enjoyed the scenes between Hev and Shirley more than ever this week though.

emmerdale is by far my fav, corrie though has caught me recently and this particular storyline was brilliant..

i was allways an eastenders fan over corrie, but i cannot accept the nonsense that continually crops up in recent years dispite some stunning personal, individual performances from some of its cast. stacey slater in particular has proven herself a great actress.

i dont like eastenders penchant for lecturing us on social issues, and last night saw the pc lecture on fat people being preached to us, telling us how we should think...

It wasn't really telling us what to think though was it? All of the show's main characters have an emotional dialogue every now and then and this was just the same. I think the character of Heather gets a lot of stick just because she's fat which is ridiculous! Heather can't realistically expect to find a husband, to make friends with attractive people (like Dawn) etc. Why though? Fat people do those things all the time in 'real life'. Anyway I'm ranting.

I think EE will be really explosive from now until Spring, with the Syed reveal and his wedding to Amira, Archie

being murdered

at Christmas

and the subsequent whodunnit

, the reveal of who

killed him

during the live episode in February (which is surely going to be either amazing or amazingly bad - I bet the focus will be on the likes of Ronnie, Phil, Janine etc who are the least likely to mess up), and the arrival of Ronnie and Roxy's mum before then.

maybe... but if ee does another

whodunnit, then itll probably be the most unlikely character who committed the crime.... lauren? her younger sister?

But in one paragraph you've highlighted how frigging bad and out of touch Eastenders writers are! They could have introduced Heather in a better, more believable light. No - they thought 'hey - lets make this character REALLY funny and as well as her being fat ... lets have her stupid as well - that'll get 'em roaring in the aisles'. Don't know why they didn't go the whole hog and make her ginger too! Even her surname ... add 'ER' to the end of it and we've got another word for a pig!

I find the writers just terrible and I agree with Rob - they let some fabulous actors down.

Cannot believe the recast they've done for Glenda Mitchell, from Jill Gascoine to Glynis Barber. Jill looked like Ronnie, she looked old enough to be her mother and married to Archie however Glynis doesn't, also "back in the day" Archie was supposed to fancy Peggy because she was so beautiful despite being married to Glenda, why would he if Glenda was 20 years younger than Peggy? :S I think Jill Gascoine was a perfect casting, shame she pulled out. I still think they could have found a better replacement, someone around the same age at least.

But on the other hand, it's a stretch to believe that Ronnie or Roxy could have been birthed by Jill Gascoine, who looks like Shirley's older sister; that is to say, she's no beauty. Glynis and Ronnie don't look all that different and she's only twelve years younger than Larry Lamb.
I remember Glynis in that bizzare show Night & Day, seen her in other stuff aswell but cant really remember how good an actress she is.

I was gonna spoiler this but its pointless. It'll be all over net and common knowledge soon

Welcome back...

The JACKSONS :o

Lindsey Coulson, Natalie Cassidy and Dean Gaffney are to return to EastEnders in the New Year as the Jackson family reunite ahead of the show's 25th anniversary.

Carol, Sonia and Robbie head back to Albert Square in the early part of next year, much to the shock of their Walford-based relatives, who include Bianca (Patsy Palmer) and Branning brothers Max (Jake Wood) and Jack (Scott Maslen).

Coulson made her last appearance as Carol on October 7, 1999 when she left to care for her sick mother who subsequently died. Earlier that year, Carol made the shocking discovery that her daughter Bianca was having an affair with her then-partner Dan Sullivan (Craig Fairbrass) and a bitter showdown in The Queen Vic resulted in Bianca leaving Walford. Since parting ways, mother and daughter have barely spoken.

Speaking of her return, Coulson said: "I'm thrilled to be returning to EastEnders after all these years. I'm also excited and intrigued to find out what Carol and her family have been up to since we last saw her and where she will be going next."

Meanwhile, Cassidy decided to take a break from the soap after playing Sonia for 14 years and made an early screen departure in February 2007. She left Albert Square with her husband Martin (James Alexandrou) and daughter Rebecca.

Of her comeback, Cassidy stated: "To be invited back to EastEnders is such an honour and I am very, very excited that Sonia is coming back. For me, to be reunited with the original Jacksons is a dream come true and I think it will be a fantastic storyline."

Third returnee Gaffney initially left the BBC soap in February 2003 when his character Robbie migrated to India for a new life with girlfriend Nita Mistry (Bindya Solanki). He did, however, make a brief return in June 2004 for his half-sister Sonia's wedding to Martin.

Gaffney enthused: "I am really looking forward to returning to EastEnders for what looks set to be a really exciting storyline. I was thrilled when Diederick called me personally to ask for Robbie to return once more and working alongside Lindsey, Natalie and Patsy again makes it all the more special. I'm sure with the family being reunited it will mean that there must be a lot of drama in store."

Of the Jacksons' reunion, EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer commented: "I'm so excited to see Lindsey back at EastEnders and the fact that we've got Natalie and Dean as well makes it extra special. This family were the original EastEnders Jackson Five, and I can't wait to see how they've grown and changed. These returns all contribute to the excitement and drama of EastEnders' 25th anniversary."

A Walford source told DS: "Everything's being kept hush-hush about the Jacksons' return at the moment, but there are certainly a load of questions to be answered. Will the frosty relationship between Carol and Bianca thaw? Are Sonia and Martin still together? And how will Robbie react when he learns of his beloved Wellard's death? Everyone's so pleased to have them back."

Carol's youngest son - and the apple of her eye - Billy will also return to the Square at the same time. He was originally played by Devon Anderson but the character's final casting has yet to be confirmed.

After EastEnders, Anderson went on to appear in Channel 4 teen soap Hollyoaks. His character Sonny Valentine, however, mysteriously disappeared from the programme's storylines in 2007. It was subsequently reported that he was axed over "alleged timekeeping issues".

Bosses have made no mention of remaining Jackson clan member Alan, played at the time by Howard Antony.

Coulson, Cassidy, Gaffney and the yet-to-be-cast Billy are due to begin filming in the next few weeks and will make their screen reappearance in the New Year.

Great news! Not really bothered about Sonia and Robbie but excited for Carol :D How long are they back for?
